It occurs to me that you’d only use AI to write for you if you believe you’re not good at writing, and if you’re not good at writing you have no way of discerning if the AI is wrting well for you, and in the process you’ll never get any better at writing yourself.

What are your favourite insults that aren’t swears, ableist, sexist, racist, misogynistic, any-other-ist, or overly aggressive? I tend to like “dipstick”, but I’m always keen to expand my vocabulary.

Some doofus thinks my email is his email and mostly he just signs me up to spam but yesterday I got emailed a login and password for a medical patient portal for him.

It’s so long ago that I last used ICQ that even with an email archive that goes back almost 20 years I have no record of what my ICQ number was.

Just discovered a fresh cut on one of my fingers and I have zero idea how I got it. Apparently I developed a spontaneous laceration from just sitting at my desk having a Teams meeting.

My drawer of cables-and-crap is in a particularly dire state at the moment. Also I don’t understand why I have 8 unused hdmi cables.

I’d occasionally said one of the few news sources I’d subscribe to with my own money is The Economist, and they have a 50 per cent off sale at the moment for the digital edition so I’ve put my money where my mouth is.

My first package reshipped from the US via HopShopGo arrived today and looks fine. I’d generally give the experience a cautious thumbs up. My only issue was there were more days than I expected between when the US Postal Service said it delivered the package to the reseller and when they said they had it.

This winter will be the first one where I’ll been catching the bus regularly and I’m not yet sure I have the right wardrobe for that.

Finally finished Star Trek: Picard last night. As a Next Gen fan when it was in its prime it was good fan service (much more fancy servicey than the previous seasons), but I wonder if it was anything other than good fan service.

TweetDeck access is being restricted to verified users soon. I’ve been using Twitter for work (to monitor things rather than to post mainly), but without TweetDeck Twitter no longer has any value left for me.

Builders finished the deck today and I just sent off the final payment and they did a fantastic job and we’re really pleased with it but it’s always quite something to just make that amount of money vanish from your account with a few taps on your phone.

Aussies: if you haven’t already (and you probably already have), don’t forget to vote tomorrow.

Took the car in to be serviced last week and to fix a warning light. The warning alight, along with another, has continued to come on so I took it in again today. They called me not long ago because they now have a boatload of tests to run on it and they’d like to keep it until tomorrow, so I guess I’m Ubering home tonight.

I worked from home today so I ended up spending most of the evening tweaking my home keyboard firmware to make it work better with the sorts of computery things I do for work.

Have seen a bunch of people walking around this bit of Canberra in academic gowns so I can only assume there is a graduation ceremony at the Comvention Centre, because there are no universities around here.

The fact that you don’t have to pay for parking in most places in Canberra on a public holiday is a stark reminder of how you do have to pay for parking in most places in Canberra the rest of the time.

Had a whole list of things I wanted to do this Christmas/New Year break, and I’ve completed precisely one of them: finishing Baldur’s Gate 3. This took me about 170 hours. Time well spent!

The term “crypto scam” is a tautology.
