Some doofus thinks my email is his email and mostly he just signs me up to spam but yesterday I got emailed a login and password for a medical patient portal for him.
On the one hand between all these emails I probably have enough information on him I could find his phone number and call him to tell him (he’s American, of course). On the other hand the sort of boomer energy I get from his emails suggests that he’s incapable of understanding that my email is not his email, so calling would be pointless.
@arose62@damonism I have people in both the US and now the UK who think my gmail address is theirs. Today I've received an account setup email for a pension account and another email about what is now an official data breach incident relating to a police complaint (I actually replied to this one recently telling the police investigator they had the wrong address)
I, too, have been assigned an American who uses my email to sign up for various things 😡
I did manage to greatly reduce the volume by noticing that the sign-ups suggested an approaching significant life event, so I emailed a few of the businesses and told them that they'd be losing the customer unless they reached out and fixed the email address.
