That can be a) giving a good headstart in designing an alternative, and b) depending on how it is exactly licensed, be great to "fork" the brand assets (if they are also just MIT, they maybe aren't protected as they usually are).
I joined the @cloudron Forum so I can more efficiently resolve bug reports and issues.
Thanks to @Yehuda for bringing the config cache bug to my attention, I've since responded in that thread and shipped the fix and tagged a new version (v0.12.1)
I apologize for the inconvenience, and look forward to helping attain perfect Cloudron/docker support going forward 💪
Super proud of the @pixelfed Curated Onboarding feature
Want to curate new users rather than have open registrations?
Not only do we support that, but we built a clever system to request more information from the applicant
We send them a link that takes them to a form where they can respond, and admins can get notified via email whenever there is a new applicant or response
But wait, there is more, admins can define reusable email request templates for easy management
@dansup but at this point who wants to listen to a pedophile rap? I haven't given him my time since he was caught texting Millie Bobby Brown when she was barely through puberty
@dansup I’m not saying to not use it to each their own while, im not a fan of ai in music in general I’m talking about in a rap beef if he’s I agree we all win in this
The new @pixelfed app is so much faster, just see for yourself
We're re-writing our app from scratch using the latest tools and best practices to provide the best photo and video sharing experience in the fediverse 🚀
The new app will be rolling out to Android users soon ✨
@dansup@pixelfed Did you want to follow the same horrible steps that Mastodon took with this app?
You talk about decentralization but this app design promote users to use pixelfed.social. Now you can't even create an account from Pixelfed App on android to another server.
Working on the @pixelfed app refactor and omg it’s so much faster and responsive on both Android and iOS
It even supports offline mode, and many more optimizations!
I can’t wait to ship this, it hurts to see such negative feedback wrt the current app (though I agree it sucks on Android) and I can’t wait to blow your minds with this new version 😎
Ruh roh, the hashtag police are out, hide yo hashtags!!
While Pixelfed has a max hashtag limit of 60 per post, a majority of posts contain less than half that
I checked the reported account and the hashtags they use are related, and the account has thousands of (legit) followers so who am I to play hashtag god??
If you get offended by the # or context of hashtags, maybe they aren't the problem 😬
@dansup hey man, sorry to tag you here, but I'd like to ask you to check out a message to hello@pixelfed.org email with the subject line “failed registration”, thanks!
I've been running multiple separate servers on DO for years and never had an issue (Mastodon (2 servers), Peertube, WordPress, WireGuard VPN, mail server, Phanpy, Bluesky PDS, and a general web server) with never a problem. I also use 2 DO Managed Postgres DBs and a DO Managed MySQL DB. Everything runs fast. Their support is excellent. They have many excellent tutorials.
Once they contacted me because I forgot to close a port in the firewall a few hours after I forgot to close it, so they do security scanning as well.
Scaling to a larger server, to get more disk space, or a larger DB is just a click.
I'm a bit frustrated with Android at the moment, I've spent hours tonight trying to upgrade the Pixelfed app to the latest RN version (and the tons of deps we use)
@dansup this exact experience is why I haven’t returned to react native. I largely enjoyed the development experience, but dependency updates broke the app every damn time.
