Funny how the "frequently asked questions" for the thing does not list the question "How do I opt out of this?" (nor the answer to it).

enthusiasts, what is your take about the ? I'm looking for an option of a single synth to use in gigs as a unique synthesizer, I use digitally emulated synths for production but would like to get something playable and practical for live situations, and this one comes with a sequencer (although the price range is way beyond my yearly gear budget at the moment, even looking only at beringher's options, but dreams must be fed and entertained)

decibyte,
@decibyte@social.data.coop avatar

@antares not really a take on the specific product, and I don't blame you if you don't care about this at all, but Behringer seems to be a shit company run by a dickhead. At least I don't want to knowingly put my money there.

@decibyte@social.data.coop avatar

@antares @endlessblue @etherdiver I'm in no way going to try and talk you out of getting a proper hardware synth. But if you're on a budget, did you consider an "advanced" MIDI controller/keyboard (or whatever it's called) along with your DAW and laptop?

@decibyte@social.data.coop avatar

@antares @endlessblue @etherdiver btw, I've heard a lot of good things about the Hydrasynth. Looks like it's in the same price range.

In 2023, The Onion filed it's first SCOTUS briefing: https://www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/22/22-293/242292/20221003125252896_35295545_1-22.10.03%20-%20Novak-Parma%20-%20Onion%20Amicus%20Brief.pdf

It was widely regarded as the 'greatest briefing of all time', for it's use of parody to defend parody (they called the judiciary "Latin dorks").

The case in question regarded a man who mocked his local PD through a satirical FB page. The PD looted his home. He sued. The 6th court ruled that the PD couldn't have known about his right to free speech.

SCOTUS said "Petition DENIED". The bad law stands.

So, for the first time in aaages(!), I've created a situation where I need to leave the comfy surroundings of the #Django shell and write some raw SQL in order to clean up the mess I'm in. wml 🤞

decibyte,
@decibyte@social.data.coop avatar

@benjaoming it went very well! The fact that Django has exactly that management command made the whole thing a lot easier. And a good chance to brush up on some fundamental SQL.

I was hit by the worst back pain of my life on Sunday, and had to spend a few days horizontally. I saw it as an opportunity to get to know the Tracker Mini a little better. And then the magic happened: This track materialised within 24 hours. As it's an unusually fast writing process for me, I decided to consider it finished and release it, hoping it will keep me away from coming back to ruin it at a later point.

I have a Logitech Squeezebox Radio in the kitchen that I used to listen to BBC World Service with (since Swedish DAB refuses to carry BBC unless they pay money, so Swedish DAB will suck forever until it dies).

Logitech announced in late January to shutdown the online service that makes it possible to even run the radio and in March, it was silent.

The only way to use it now is to run your own local Lyrion Media Server (fmly: Logitech Media Server). 1/x

This is one of my all-time favourite Friday records. I don't think I've ever put it on and not either danced or sung along at least a little bit.

It's just so packed with good vibes.

A series of 3 releases. I first heard this in a car a while back and it didn't really catch my interest. After giving them a try in headphones, it turns out there's some really solid synthesizer and production work in there. Depth, a sprinkle of darkness, very Röyksoppy, but... More mature(?) than their early albums. Works for both intense listening and as something playing in the background while working on other things.

Although even more was in my cart, I'm concluding this with the Not What I Call relases, featuring various fediverse artists. A series of (mostly) electronic music pointing in a lot of directions.

A thing that struck me while going through this: So much of the music was by fedi people. I didn't intentionally go for that. But I find it quite cool! So many talented people here. Also outside music.
