It's probably about time I wrote a review of my framework laptop. TL;DR preview: love the concept, quality hardware, but it currently feels like a tough sell for anyone that might need to use their warranty and is not comfortable swapping laptop parts on their own.

My new SofaBaton X1S remote isn't perfect, but it has some cool features and is significantly better than having three different remotes. I never owned a Logitech Harmony, but I'm told this is one of the closest alternatives that's being made today.

A couple reminders given that PSF board elections are coming up:

1. Your work in Python communities and ecosystems may already qualify you for a PSF membership class with voting privileges. Reiterating an offhand comment I made on a call last week: it's a whole lot easier for tech employees of many companies to regularly spend money on happy hour at a bar than it is to spend money on open source projects their employers rely on. This is a problem.

The trend of companies altering the deal after a product is purchased is simultaneously infuriating and banal. Bought a sonos? Create a sonos account and fork over your personal data or it's a brick now. Bought a roku tv? Accept their new ToS or it's a brick now. It's coming to everything you own, and "vote with your wallet" doesn't work.
