What are Lemmy’s feelings about the best cloud storage options these days, if you really want to break into the 1-2TB range? I’m not there yet, probably not even halfway there, but I like the peace of mind of potentially having the space if I need it. And I think subscribing to something in the Netflix price range is maybe...
I’m using Signal, but after I found out that it’s not as privacy-friendly as it claims, I’m uneasy about sharing my address there. I trust the person who asked for my address, but not the service. What’s a safe way to share? I was thinking of something like a self-destructing pastebin, but surely you have better ideas.
Pretty much everything about it is unverifiable, because its a centralized service and you ultimately don’t know what the server is running. Contrast that with self-hostable apps which must pass verifiability checks, because people can host their own instance.
We politely asked this fedi account to take this discussion here, but they obstinately refused. They’ve equated even any discussion questioning the Zenz / Byler / ASPI narrative as genocide denial.
I tend to like the volunteer-read audiobooks on librivox and recently was curious about their Sherlock Holmes books (never read or listened to before), but I’m wondering what else is out there and popular in the community.

Its just like email. One person on gmail can email someone else on protonmail. A person on one lemmy server can subscribe to communities on other servers, and see posts and comments from users elsewhere.
With email, you can also block email addresses who keep spamming you with things you don't want to see, which is what we've done here.
Hey! Back after a large break from lemmy and after returning to the community it seems it is more advice focused: what is the best way to learn programming vs story focused what is a bad mistake when you started programming....
Seriously tho I like the idea that its advice-focused. My only preference is that ppl ask lemmy support-type questions in other places like !lemmy_support.
I really want to ditch spotify, but its just so convenient to be able to search and stream music on any device at a moments notice. Not to mention the fact that its integrated with a music player that can quickly queue up, or add to playlist a searched song. Is there any software (or collection of software) that can emulate the...
Simple solution: get a torrent client for your phone like libretorrent, and vlc or any music player you like. Search sites like 1337x.to or my torrents-csv.ml for music. Click torrent, open music player.
More complicated one: install navidrome and qbittorrent on a home server, get the dsub and qbittorrent remote android apps. You now have a music server that you can add torrents to, and navidrome will auto add music from a watched folder.
My guess: Dennis would not get the vaccine. The golden god isn’t susceptible to disease, his body would overpower it in an instant. He catches it from mac later in the episode and almost dies, but still refuses to get the vaccine, considering it a fluke.
Dee would be mad at everyone for not getting it, then get only the first dose of the vaccine and catch it from dennis.
Mac wouldn’t get it bc jesus. He’d then almost kill himself with ivermectin.
Charlie would believe mac, but not take ivermectin because it might turn him into a horse. He catches it after mac.
Frank would get the vaccine, but lie about it and push wolf cola as a cure to the public, or make bank by investing in funeral home futures or something. He starts a campaign telling old people that god wouldn’t want them to get vaccinated. He’s the only one that doesn’t catch it in the episode.
I have been running lineageOS on my OnePlus 2. I liked it, but Lineage has stopped supporting my phone. There are two options that I have been able to find as replacements - postmarketOS and /e/OS. Any thoughts on those or other recommendation? Anything that gets security updates, is open source, and is functional meets my...
I highly recommend just going to the xdadevelopers forum for your device, and see what the most supported ROMs are. They’ll all be AOSP-based of course, but many of them will have de-googled / de-play-store download options. Most importantly the most popular ones will always support all your phone hardware.
Best options for Non-Google cloud storage as of 2022?
