I re credentialed with an insurance company today and they wanted my employment history (why?) and only had options for experience while I was in school or post licensure. Then they were like “you have a gap” like yeah that’s when I was in my post doc, not in school and not licensed, every psychologist in South Dakota did one

@thepoliticalcat YES. Just feed them! It’s so important for their growing bodies, they didn’t ask to be here, and it’s adults’ job to take care of them. I don’t care what their situation is. Feed them.
My emotional support solitaire app is doing a mini game where I earn cookies when I win levels and I can feed them to a baby fox to help her grow, it’s like the developers had a focus group on how to market the game to me specifically
@freemo 100%! I’m just yelling about kids specifically today because of my awful state government. NO ONE should go hungry. EVERYONE should have enough to eat, clean water, a safe place to live, etc
@freemo Actually Kristi Noem (governor) turned down federal funding for school lunches, then state legislature voted down expanding the lunch program due to lack of money
@freemo No idea if there were conditions but she could have been being petty 🤷♀️ I feel like even if there was good reason to turn down the federal funds, we should have found a way to make feeding kids a priority
Someone today asked me to create an Amazon store, post one of my large size plushies to Amazon, and cut the price down from $44.95 to $30 with free shipping. Amazon doesn’t sell the plushie they wanted, and they wanted to use an Amazon gift card to buy it from me, hence their request for me to start an Amazon store just for them.
I offered them the standard 10% off and it’s over the order minimum so free shipping included.
Got an email with an “opportunity” to write for Brainz Magazine and got this response when I enquired about pay.
If you write, PLEASE know that your labor and expertise have value. Reputable publications pay their writers. Sketchy publications solicit free labor. And scammers charge you to be published.
Also makes all the content in their magazine incredibly suspicious, as apparently publication is based on who’s willing to pay, not on quality.
I work with some excellent publications. Know what they all have in common? They pay me. They fact check. They put out quality content for their readers.
@thamesynne Typically when someone hires you to write content for them, they pay you because you’re doing the work. You give them content, they give you money. Brainz wants me to give them content and money
