el_abuelo,

One of the best uses of this meme I’ve seen so far, so far

el_abuelo,

To some people in some places Facebook is actually necessary in order to have a social life or run a business.

We all know Facebook would die if it charged for access, because it would lose its ubiquity that makes it necessary for some people.

What would actually be good is if instead of charging for privacy, they charged for enhanced features - similar to how discord charges for Nitro (I am not defending discord, just using their payment model as an example)

The problem with that payment model though is then you have to actually develop features people want to pay for. And we all know Facebook is creatively bankrupt.

el_abuelo,

All in saying is that Firefox is a web browser and not a document viewer

So what do you suppose an HTML document is?

Hint: the clue is in the name.

2nd hint: the first line of any well formed HTML file.

el_abuelo,

To me, shop lifting is taking small value items.

What you described is, to me, theft.

IANAL

They’re essential, but they’re also numerous. The barrier to entry for a lot of these jobs is “went to school for some time” - which means pretty much everyone is qualified.

Supply and demand.

Notice how when service staff were allowed back to work, a lot of them didn’t, and that drove up zone wages.

And to be clear - I am not advocating for below living wages, nor saying that people doing these jobs are unskilled. You can tell the good from the bad, and I think everyone should be paid at least a living wage.

el_abuelo,

No, because there are no stupid questions.

el_abuelo,

Ah my sweet summer child…how wonderful it must be to live in your world.

el_abuelo,

For stellar technology you need to go to SpaceX. You’ve been shopping at the wrong Musk store.

el_abuelo,

I’ve never really understood the hyper around NV but admittedly my memory could be tainted by time.

I loved Fallout 1 & 2 and when Fallout 3 dropped I was delighted to get 1st person modern graphics in the world I loved. Then NV came along and the novelty of the new perspective and graphics had worn off, and there were these 2 new groups I really didn’t enjoy. Take me back to simpler times of raiders and brotherhood. Then Fallout 4 came out and I was happy once more…back in the world I loved with fresher graphics.

But nothing can replace 1 & 2 for me.

el_abuelo,

And likely the US would eventually intervene once both sides had slugged it out for a while, ensuring they have a seriously compromised enemy and seriously dependent allies…and enrich themselves in the process.

el_abuelo,

Gosh this was hard to read. Those centipedes really did a number on you huh!

el_abuelo,

I’d like you to repeat it please. But slower this time.

el_abuelo,

Why is 2x2 meant to be 1.5x1.5 and not 2x2?

el_abuelo,

Is that any worse than stuff he’s actually done? I don’t see why he’d care about this particular instance of being a thunder cunt.

el_abuelo,

Curious what country you live in and how you know it’s a stray. I know some countries only have strays but if you’re not in one of those then how do you know you’re not just feeding someone else’s cat?

el_abuelo,

To be fair they did make a great game, and the current drama has little to do with the actual game.

I am not defending them, I understand why people are cheesed off, I just don’t think it affects how good or bad a game is.

el_abuelo,

I totally agree. I feel bad for those who aren’t and I think it’s wrong.

el_abuelo,

I get ya. It sounded like you were saying they were unable to make great games because of the partnership.

I agree that the current situation is shit and I feel bad for those who can’t play it anymore.

I wonder if the game would even exist without the partnership.

el_abuelo,

Honestly I am too old and experienced to buy into hype. This game is fun - no ifs, no buts - it’s fun.

Whatever else is going on - if you get to play this, it’s fun.

Any bullshit around the game sucks for those involved - but I would say, the “hype” is justified.

el_abuelo,

I appreciate the response and see no reason to downvote you - and you are at a net positive so clearly more people are up voting.

Your bias is very clear, but then so is mine!

el_abuelo,

In the first 45 seconds of that video it says we’ve been consuming milk for 10,000 years - and yet you say it’s not ancient?

el_abuelo,

I meant ancient as in ancient Greeks, not whatever obscure meaning of the word you’re using.

Yeah I get the same impression from the general chatter but no one seems to ever say what’s bad about NordVPN. I find their software pleasing to use, the meshnet functionality saves me some trouble, and the speeds seem to be very high and it’s reliable.

There’s other stuff their marketing material speaks to that people can choose to believe or not, but the above is why I subscribed.

If folks ever shared good, verifiable reasons to not use them I’d certainly look elsewhere.

Also - what’s not practical about Tor? Seems perfectly practical for my purposes.

el_abuelo,

I trust Nord as much as I trust any VPN that has independent audits of their no-log policy.

And yes Tor is slow, but I dont think that makes in impractical, you’re trading privacy for speed.
