@lemmy hi. I have tried to install many android apps for Lemmy on an old android phone. And was disappointed they either don't support older versions or just can't work connect (flutter based apps).
I thought open source and libre movement cared about the environment and reducing e-waste. Instead it's bigcorp who makes sure their apps run on potato phones even kaios feature phone.
Anyways a fork of inifity for Lemmy would be awesome
Give it some time. App support for Lemmy is basically alpha while Lemmy is at beta stage. The good news is that progress has picked up with the latest exit wave.
I should begin by mentioning that I am (was) a moderator of three subreddits: one large subreddit, one NSFW subreddit and a medical-related subreddit. After u/spez’s calamitous AMA, I joined Lemmy and haven’t looked back. I am really enjoying the Lemmy/KBin vibe. It is very much an alpha (almost beta) product and the ad...
Fun fact: only 2.5% of the grain went to the poor countries in need. And none of the non-Russian parts of the deal were honored, so not really a surprise it was dropped after Erdogan won the election.

I don’t boo them. But their message is equivalent to “let’s lose over 90% of Earth’s population over a couple of years” which isn’t too popular for some strange reason.
A better message would be “let’s use all what’s left of fossil energy to build out renewable energy infrastructure and downscale our lifestyles radically, as the time is short”. While still losing a lot of people, but that part is not said aloud.
Exactly what the title says. I used to look at Reddit and spend 2+ hours minimum every single day, more on the weekends. Once the API changes were announced and the protest date hit, I decided I would stop using it regardless of what happened moving forward....
I put a thick pond liner on top of corrugated eternite (the asbestos kind) then filled up with hydroculture clay pellets (should have used lava) and put a reasonably thick layer of soil on top of it. Seeded some meadow plants and added irrigation when it’s too dry. It insulates in winter, cools down in summer, looks good (yay, flowers) and insects and birds love it. Would definitely recommend, unless your climate is too dry and water is scarce.
Do not underestimate what a small plot of land can contribute to your diet. This is what helped many families survive in the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Southern Germany: weather whiplash. Extreme heat and drought followed by devastating thunderstorms. Economy is taking a self-inflicted nosedive. Politics continues to pursue dysfunctional, kneejerk measures to deal with the polycrisis. Population polls show most are aware and hopeless.

I see that their mass defederation is potentially temporary.
But the point that hairtrigger defederation results in fragmentation, up to the point of insularisation remains valid. Islands naturally tend to become obscure.
