heckler, to lemmy

@lemmy hi. I have tried to install many android apps for Lemmy on an old android phone. And was disappointed they either don't support older versions or just can't work connect (flutter based apps).
I thought open source and libre movement cared about the environment and reducing e-waste. Instead it's bigcorp who makes sure their apps run on potato phones even kaios feature phone.
Anyways a fork of inifity for Lemmy would be awesome

heckler,

@eleitl I would like to be optimistic but most android apps nowadays just don't support older phones. And the trend is also prominent in the android Foss sphere.

A link aggregator app is quite basic. And shouldn't require the latest cutting edge tech to deliver a good experience.

RedReader and infinity are the best examples of how open source apps could be made. Light weight . customizable and backward compatible

heckler,

@eleitl even by @LemmyDev only supports android 8.0 and newer.

heckler, to test

@test it didn't work ppstin to geddit.social . hope this time it does .

23.0 has just been released.

This is primarily a bug fix release after 22.0, although you will also notice a new preference to adjust text size across the user interface.

More details at https://github.com/tuskyapp/Tusky/releases/tag/v23.0

heckler,

@Tusky I wish the app kept supporting older android versions

The UK is a useful idiot for authoritarian regimes.

The Online Safety Bill is set to puncture the security of messaging apps to enable mass surveillance. It’ll give permission for it to be done in other countries.

Misskey overtaking Mastodon?

Last month, https://fedidb.org observed Misskey's flagship instance report 3.9M new monthly posts, more than double the 1.7M that Mastodon's flagship instance.

Is this a growing trend, or could Misskey growth be due to spam?

heckler,

@dansup something is off in either the data or the graphs. If you look at mastodon.social user growth graph. It reports almost the same growth for the month of June as the past may. While only one day and half has passed on June. Elsewhere many graphs just miss the month of may and jump straight to June.

atomicpoet, (edited ) to fediverse

On the , there was a big spike in MAUs during the past few days, and I have no idea why.

I did see some correlation for https://calckey.social's Fediverse requests, as you can see with the second chart.

Anyone have some guesses on what went on?

@fediversenews

heckler,

@atomicpoet @fediversenews someone ceated a mastodon server daystorm.netz.org and modified the API response to a fake inflated usercount . and now fediverse trackers have poisoned data.
