Keeping a record of your magical work is essential. During the 20th Century, there was a fashion in some subcultures for engaging with magic with scientific rigor. However you feel about this, keep in mind: Magic changes things. You do magic, things are going to change. You're going to want a record of how things were. You might want to retrace your steps.
