Having temporarily switched back to a 5 day workweek for a while from 4 days to meet a deadline I can comfortably say this shit doesn't work. That 5th day is a huge drain on energy with relatively little output to show for it. Have any other 4 day peeps experienced the same?

Everyone's sick all the time, rates of stroke and heart attack are way up, people are suffering brain fog and other cognitive decline, and viruses that used to not be a big deal are hospitalizing people they normally shouldn't

But there's no emergency. No need to mask. Not even in healthcare settings

Wonder how many years this approach will last before it becomes utterly untenable. Humanity is so fucking disappointing

I'm realizing that if I didn't specifically have a spouse who's a Windows network admin / IT specialist (who therefore set up a home lab / domain, meaning the Windows I run on is the sort you use in corporate spaces that shuts down the stupid shit), I would have actually started using by now.

I still give it non-zero odds I end up there in the next decade. And I'm someone who has historically cringed and whined when forced to use Linux terminals, especially for development.

I don't know if this is that meaningful a bellwether, but it sure seems... not great, for Windows as a meaningful dev platform.

(you can even game on Linux now thanks to Proton! like holy shit!)

the worst part of gamedev is working on cool stuff but not being able to show it because the PR folks say that if you show it then press won't pay attention to your game because you've already shown too much of it which is hilarious because we all know that big press is useless for indie games at this stage (because they won't cover you and it probably won't matter even if they do) and smaller enthusiast press probably wouldn't care anyway

managed to get the strawberries prepped (and eaten) before they went rotten, although some had already gone. hate how with stuff like that if you just feel run down for 2 days you're on the edge of being too late to have your dang fruit you paid a small fortune for 😞

@SirTapTap yeah anything that can be frozen gets chucked into the freezer immediately here so we don't waste any

also freeze my breads cause i can't afford to toss out half loafs due to mold

@SirTapTap some breads are iffy. sliced bread i thaw on the counter in a ziplock bag to keep the moisture in. soft rolls same deal. harder stuff like kaiser rolls i sometimes brush a little bit of water on em before thawing in a ziplock

There are fascists taking over your country that want a lot of people dead at worst and too scared to participate in society at best and they're doing that by showing up armed to threaten people. If escalation happens, it's because of the genocidal fascists and the people who aren't doing anything about them, not their fucking victims

I left your country and moved 6000 miles away instead because I no longer felt safe, but not everyone has that luxury, and asking people to not protect themselves from violent fascists when nobody else will because it makes you uncomfortable is some extreme dipshit nonsense. Let your discomfort propell you into political action against the fascist elements in your country instead of whining if you want things to not escalate further
