Hopefully the last of these I need to do. I'll be starting a temp job in late April that will cover us until we make it to the start of my graduate program in August. Unfortunately that means my first paycheck will be in early May and, although I have managed to make an arrangement for rent to be slightly delayed, we still have bills due in late April plus the fact the job is across town so I'll need to fill my car up twice before I get paid (my current half a tank is going to fall quite a bit short). Being able to reliably get to/from the job until that paycheck arrives is important, obviously. This will ensure both myself and my disabled partner make the jump from incredibly precarious financial situation to relative stability for the foreseeable future.

TRANS FEM FRIENDS: What do you wish you could say to the person you were before transition who thought it was impossible to ever actually be a girl or be fem?

I sometimes think back and find myself at a loss at what would have supported that girl best. She was so sad, hopeless, and often dissociated or in fight/flight/freeze/fawn over her distress with how she felt like she couldn't fit in the world. And like, I know "it gets better" or "it really is possible" wouldn't have gotten through.

I talk to a lot of young trans folks who go through this still every day, and so would appreciate others thoughts on this!

Well, I've been going by Chloe for over 200 days now. At this point, I'm pretty sure it's not just a phase. A lot has changed in those 200 days, mostly for the better. I hope that by the end of the next 200 days I'll be able to live my life fully as Chloe.

Spent some of International Women's Day thinking about a Usenet archive I used for research a while back. It mainly concerns a poll that I found very supportive, especially for 1992. It is about the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival who, in 1991, banned trans women which spurred a protest called Camp Trans outside the festival. The poll was taken in 1992 by members of Camp Trans though the posts in the archive discussing it are from 1993 and, of course, given the timeframe transsexuals was the nomenclature widely used in both the posts and polling. 73% in favor of trans women entry, 4% unsure, and about 23% against; which again I think is a pretty nice showing of solidarity in 1992. They also allowed for additional comments/reasons, which of course not everyone did were also sorted by how common they were; most of the "yes" comments are various flavors of trans women are women (though I find the fourth most popular answer "They have been through enough" to be a hell of a mood). Again very supportive for 1992 even if I think some of the replies indicated they don't 100% get it, they're still supportive. And I think that's an important thing to remember. #trans #internationalwomensday
