I just watched the talk about COSMIC and I am so excited for this desktop! I love how easily it will be to customize where the top panel lives. It's nothing I didn't know about before, but seeing it talked about and in use gets my blood pumping 🌑 @system76

This is my lappy. So I am checking in with a different challenge. I want to see if I can keep this hardware going 10 years with the same install. I think I can always transition it to a server.

@Wyatt @JLW_the_Jobber I haven't ran Gentoo since 2002, I should check it out again. Good old stage 1 install, but I see that's not recommended anymore. Part of the excitement was building the entire OS over two days only to realize you forgot to compile the kernel with support for the filesystem you use 😂

@codemonkeymike @ramsey there are file trees in neovim along with fuzzy finder. Both are pre configured if you use lunarvim.

Are there any maintained circuit breaker libraries for ? If I don't have to write my own, that would be great. The libs I found seem not to be maintained in the last few years.

My @frameworkcomputer laptop came in the mail today!! Love seeing all the swag that came with!

Looks like I have to install :gentoo: again, start a blog and have a minimal desktop. 2 maybe 3 window managers. All depends on if I want to use Wayland.

    @killyourfm @element I was having issues with the Flatpak element application crashing. Element doesn't control the Flatpak version and once I switched to the official release (deb), all my issues went away.

    I’ve gone from using the git command-line exclusively to almost exclusively using Sublime Merge.

    I basically just keep it open on its own monitor as a real-time dashboard of all my changes. That, and the ease with which you can stage hunks and lines, has improved the quality of my commits and also gives me greater peace of mind.

    (Downside: it’s a commercial app and Linux support exists but isn’t first class. e.g., doesn’t automatically respond to light/dark mode changes.)

    @aral Themes and syntax highlighting configuration under linux leaves a lot to be desired. It's expected that you also use Sublime Text, otherwise the files will need to be installed manually. Other than that, it's a great piece of software.

    My new PineTime watch is pretty comfy. So far, it tells the time well. The PineBuds Pro have great audio fidelity! The bass seemed a bit lacking. My new desktop charging station is amazing. And forces me to redo how I have my desk set up.

    This is only an out of the box experience. Haven't had time to play around just yet.

    @Wyatt ditto, I'm already rocking out a 3900x so I don't need an upgrade for the internals. I'll be purchasing the case when it comes out to "update" the look 😄
