Look at the computing devices your students can access. If they are all the same, someone isn't doing their job.

No one knows.

One thing I learned during 35 years in education: If the highest leaders in the organization don't enjoy spending time with students, they are ineffective.

"Advances are rapid. Change is slow."

Sure, but in the time it takes to change, thea advances may become dangerous.

We use gmail. A member of the organization refuses to use the email to avoid interacting with Google. What obligation do we have to accomodate them?

@LouisIngenthron Does it matter if they are a student attending a school that uses gmail?

In a 1960 paper Joseph Licklider predicted humans would assign computers and humans different tasks. It sure seems we need to keep this in mind in today's genertive AI world.

The student information system is one of the most important software and data systems in any educational institution. It is the database in which grades and other academic records are stored along with a wide range of other records related to a students’ attendance and studies. Managing and securing them is of primary importance.

Hey school leaders... don't always defer to IT folks. Get some coaching in IT issues. It is too important to not get help.

I’m not sure we should quote folks who are wrong, even if we throughly debunk their argument. Some of our readers will forget us and remember them.

When we stop seeing information technology as "information processing tools," they start to become useful.

Those explanations you read in textbooks often come from other textbooks. No one ever checks them, so we are not sure they are accurate, but they are not to be questioned.

No IT professional wants users of their systems to be unproductive and complaining.
