In which I realize that a cheap way to keep shapes from touching is to draw the same shape with a wider stroke in the background color first.

Elementals, curated from a much larger set of outputs:

Water, Fire, Lightning, and Air.

I love how the inherent randomness in these processes can evoke such different feelings.

Thin lines in orange and red hues on a black background. These seem to flow rise upward, engulfing everything in their surroundings, perhaps even including the viewer.
Thin lines in green and purple and blue hues on a black background. These seem to strike violently downward. Such drama.
Thin lines in blue and purple hues on a black background. These seem to blow sideways, across the landscape, bringing a breath of fresh air.

This reminds me of one of those games where you need to arrange mosaics of colored tiles into perfectly ordered spectrums... and you're about 90% done with the level.

Further iterations... introduced more randomness to the parameters, not that you could tell from the single earlier sample. I'm actually pretty pleased with these as they are and just might declare myself done.

This is adapted from Amy Goodchild's "Curved Line Jellyfish." As soon as I saw it I knew I had to try my own version of it. I'll probably keep noodling on this one to see where else I can take it.

The final day of Genuary is "Generative Audio". Instead of trying to generate an audio clip,
I used an audio clip to generate an image. Many different clips within a recording of Beethoven's Pathétique Sonata were passed through an FFT with smoothing and coloring applied.
