Sometimes a store will say on their website if they are LGBT friendly, or you can look up reviews on Google Maps

If algorithms are are not the default option and are not designed to generate profit for platforms and advertisers, then perhaps they could be a healthy way to discover new content

Unfortunately a lot of people in our community are not fit to own a firearm because it could be a danger to themselves.

How can you distance the browser from the company that maintains it?

glacier,
@glacier@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I see what you mean, but Mozilla Corp. is ultimately responsible for improving the browser. I don’t see how limiting discussion on their issues would be helpful. I use FireFox as my preferred browser but that doesn’t mean that I think Mozilla is perfect or doesn’t have their own issues.

If you didn’t read it then why did you post about it? What did you see “between the lines?”

She is not saying that Donald Trump or his supports should not have a chance to speak. She is saying that websites and other social platforms should not amplify their voices above others. Trump and his supporters are known for spreading misinformation that has led to violence, and online platforms need to do something about it. There aren’t any calls to deplatform Biden or liberals because they aren’t the ones that inspire mass shootings, hate crimes, and attempts to overthrow the government. Of course, you have the right to your own opinion regarding the article, but I feel that there are many in the community who have similar thoughts as my own.

Abortion, trans healthcare, next up will probably be birth control and HIV meds. It is only a matter of time before SCOTUS rules that states can ban any medicine they want, the Dobbs decision paved the way for it.

I primarily use DuckDuckGo, and occasionally have to use a !bang to get to the Startpage or Google.

Keyboard spyware?

I was taking a look at the Naomi Wu situation (A Chinese DIY tech youtuber who went missing after being watched by the government) and in one part they mentioned that she was concerned about her privacy, so started using Signal, but had a default chinese keyboard that had a keylogger and the police had looked into what she was...

OpenBoard (specifically the fork by Helium314 that supports gesture typing) is what I prefer.

glacier,
@glacier@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

AnySoftKeyboard is FOSS and supports gesture typing. It has not been updated in a while and I find it buggy.

Helium314’s OpenBoard fork is FOSS but supports Google’s proprietary gesture typing library.

FlorisBoard is FOSS and supports gesture typing, but does not have word predictions. It is being worked on.

Klinefelter syndrome occurs when a person who is assigned male at birth is born with an extra x chromosome. Most people with the condition are cisgender boys or men.

Being trans is not a medical condition, although many trans people have gender dysphoria, which is psychological distress a person may have due to identifying with a different gender than the one that they were assigned at birth.

Best way to mass delete reddit content?

I’ve decided that I want to delete my reddit account. I want to remove all of my posts and comments first. What is the best way to do this? I’ve had the account for several years so it would be too tedious to delete everything individually. So far I’ve tried the Redact android app, which did not work when I signed in. I...

Nothing will change so long as capitalists hold all of the political power and put their profits over the health of the planet and of humanity.

More and better public transport, cycling, and walkable cities would be great. But we can’t have nice things because car and gas companies might make less profits.

People are probably upset that a platform that they have been using for years is turning to shit. Also, Musk cannot do whatever he wants to do with Twitter, he has to consider government regulations and rules from Apple or Google.

Your comment was about not understanding “why regulars are so mad.” It might be difficult to accept, but some people care about different things than you do.

glacier,
@glacier@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

What a stupid comment. If you don’t like this, then you could move to a new country, learn a new language, find a new job, new home, but don’t even think about trying to make change, right?

He’s not a Nazi, just someone who allows Nazis on his website, reposts and agrees with their beliefs.

BEWARE ! People who create fake email account to login to social media.

A facebook employee explained me how tracking works. Its not the email address Meta is concerned about. Its the IP, device identifiers and location. Meta doesnt care about the email at all apart from sending you emails for notification. Even with a fake email they exactly know who you are. Let’s say you visit CNN.com which has...

Does Firefox containers hide your IP, device info and location?

glacier,

It probably wasn’t too hard to find, but this is still creepy and unhinged. It’s like threatening someone by saying “I know where you live!” You never know what kind of people might see the info who otherwise wouldn’t have.
