@rjblaskiewicz I thriller I read recently had a few paragraphs about how some characters preferred curanderas to doctors because the curanderas did a better job of empathy and social context, and I suspect chiropractic may be like that.

Just cried to my psychiatrist for 1/2 an hour. He says that he thinks there is something more than just bipolar going on for me to be having such significant mood shifts within a day. IDK, it’s happened before. He was concerned by how much I have deteriorated since we last spoke.

I told him that living on this rollercoaster is untenable, and that although I don’t have any active plans to end my life, I feel that I can’t be expected to live like this. I’m in a hopeless place right now. He agrees I need more support and is going to raise my case in the community MH team’s multidisciplinary team meeting and with psychological therapies. I told him I really miss having a CPN/therapist to check in with/offload to. He doesn’t want to tweak my meds but will get me some more diazepam. He was sorry to hear my condition, I’m usually so stable when we speak.

Walked to town but couldn’t achieve more than tortoise pace and almost slowed to a stop several times, at which points I kept starting to cry. Hollow laugh at thought of running. Bought ready made rice pudding and tiramisu pots because birthday then came home and burst into tears properly. In floods of tears. I feel like world’s worst wife, I can’t even act normal for ONE DAY for my husband’s birthday. What a waste of space

Computers as tools for humans are so useful exactly because they can’t think and do tedious work like calculations or information storage and retrieval for humans in a deterministic way.

It took like nearly 90 years of digital computers to make them powerful enough to run a wasteful algorithm that pretends to think (but doesn’t) and to deliver bullshit non-deterministic results while using absurd amounts of computational and environmental resources.

For my next trick I am going to try to go out and not be Mad in public. There’s a jazz gig at our local hotel and some of our friends are going. It’s just a ten minute walk away so if I start to cry or panic I can just run home. I hope it will be relaxing but you never know.

I’m fascinated by the grocer’s apostrophe. Pluralizing using an apostrophe is harder than pluralizing without, and yet it appears to be the go-to for all but copy editors and pedants. Figuring out why might lead to some useful insights about why some skills are borderline unteachable.

My guitar teacher wants me to have instant access to all musical intervals, e.g. "What note is a diminished sixth from A#?"
