@kjr Fuckin' yikes. "But she's Jewish," is what some people are saying to excuse it, why other's are saying, "but she's Jewish" in disbelief. I wanna see her blame this one on Ambien, like she did her racist tweets.

    Today we had three paintings delivered, a printer/copier/fax machine, two mini computers to run our advertising slideshows and four printer cartridges. Fortunately it was split between USPS and UPS so no one driver is annoyed with all the big stuff that came in one go.

    "Why don't we replace female characters with male ones if you wanna make the Doctor and Sherlock female?" I've decided we should recast all the Disney princesses with men. I want to learn about the dangers faced by men with nonconsensual contact (Sleeping Beauty), and the challenges of gender conformity (Mulan), and about young men trapped with abusive family members (Cinderella). These are all issues men face. I want to see how these characters fair as male.

    So I've just learned of the mystery of the third shaker on the Victorian dinner table. There was the requisite salt shaker and pepper shaker, and a third one... and NOBODY knows what was in the third shaker, maybe horseradish or mustard seed. QUICK, SOMEONE FIND A TIME TRAVELER! I MUST KNOW!

    Today's reminder that the Talmud acknowledges 8 genders, including genders that require assistance with being revealed.

    The Talmud can be a bit rubbish on gender issues. Please see: the last three tractates. However, even these guys knew gender wasn't a binary, and acted accordingly. The biggest debate was what mitzvot were obligatory for people who were not female, but also weren't male. There was no debate about their basic humanity.
