I'm from the North West of England. My beard has started to go grey over the last couple of years.

I like messing about with #linux, #flightsim & #rpg gaming, #skiing, #paddleboarding, writing #bass heavy #electronicmusic and pick up other interests here and there. I spend a fair bit of time on the #isleofman visiting family.

To complete the Mastodon stereotype I work as a Sysadmin/DevOps guy in a mainly #debian #proxmox environment.

@DJDarren I stopped putting music out for the same reason - I'm very introverted/socially anxious and prefer to be left alone, and having to continually care about reactions, traction and numbers was exhausting to me. So I just stopped putting it out.

Now I make music when I feel like it, and enjoy the creative process without worrying about whether it's ok to spaff the links all over everyone else's feed. Much happier!

My manager complaining this morning that he paid £300 in NI this month but can’t get a GP appointment, and how he’d rather pay that £300 into a private health provider.

And you know what, that’s a reasonable view.

But as I pointed out to him; if he and everyone else in his tax bracket took the same decision, that would be significantly less in the pot for those who can’t afford private healthcare.

@DJDarren The other issue here is that none of that £300 goes to the NHS - it covers state pension, maternity leave, unemployment support etc. It's not health insurance.

Saw this odd waterfowl the other day. Can anyone identify it. Its call was a low-pitched continuous drone.

@DJDarren Looks like a Grumman Albatross to me.

Exciting to see one outside of its natural habitat - it usually builds its nest near US military bases and coastguard stations.

Fun fact, one of its eggs can feed a family of four for a week.
