My silly little toy renderer now automatically groups meshes that share a common material and geometry into instanced draw calls.

What are good options for configuring something somewhere to make an HTTP request to a specified URL on a schedule?

I've used cron on a VPS, GitHub scheduled actions, Val Town and Google Cloud Scheduler in the past

I'm looking for more options like that - specifically interested in cheap, reliable, easy to use and likely to stick around for a long time

@jonikorpi I'm solving this issue by not stressing out over how much content there is ;-)

Bluesky so far not supporting video/custom GIF uploads is definitely keeping large parts of the indiedev/creative spaces away, but that stuff is coming (and so are DMs.)

Outside of that, activity feels healthy.

Most feeds available so far aren't very smart (often basically just regex filters), people are still experimenting.

Whenever I catch myself thinking that I liked 90s and early 00s Web better, I remind myself that in order for your website to be seen, you had to apply for a link on Yahoo, which took weeks to get approved.

I also remember web servers crashing because AltaVista decided to crawl you.

Or everyone near to the Internet's metal being angry about Netscape giving away their browser for free (because it was just too much for large sections of the infrastructure to handle, and also other people had to foot the bill)

Linux update: generally happy with the Ubuntu 23.10 experience, except it has (so far)

  • updated itself into a non-bootable state (had to manually fix things through recovery mode)
  • uninstalled Gnome Software and all of Flatpak (!!!)

I'm beginning to understand why people don't like Ubuntu
