Why Speaker Mike Johnson’s trip to Trump’s trial in N.Y. mattered (www.msnbc.com)

It was a remarkable moment in modern American politics: The House speaker amplifying Trump’s defense and turning the Republican Party against the federal and state legal systems that are foundational to the U.S. government and a cornerstone of democracy. Johnson, who is second in line for the presidency, called the court...

homesweethomeMrL,

For those of you who aren’t olds: in the 2004 presidential election, about two(?) months before the election Gee Dubz came out swinging against gay marriage.

It wasn’t in the headlines before that. It was dutifully picked up and parroted by all corporate news sewers until it was a huge “movement” and every right-wing bastard hated gays AND gay marriage, which they hadn’t known about before.

So. Yeah. That’s what they do. And, thanks to “journalism” being a sick joke for the most part, it works every time.

homesweethomeMrL,

The Great Pyramid isn’t a tomb, though. It has none of the hallmarks of a tomb. Even the Pharoah’s name is suspected to be 18th Century graffiti, and it was in a hidden room on the ceiling in the back where they kept the cleaning supplies or something.

homesweethomeMrL,

plurality /ploo͝-răl′ĭ-tē/

noun

  1. The state or fact of being plural.
  2. A large number or amount; a multitude.

Had to look it up. So you agree you were mistaken that it was “mostly” or all related to fossil-fuel vehicle infrastructure? Or at least it’s not mostly highways then?

US House votes to force weapons shipments to Israel, rebuking Biden (www.reuters.com)

The Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill on Thursday that would force President Joe Biden to send weapons to Israel, seeking to rebuke the Democrat for delaying bomb shipments as he urges Israel to do more to protect civilians during its war with Hamas....
