Removing under rule #5 - it’s not really a topic for discussion.

Out of Curiosity how would a Lemmy instance handle another Instance Circumventing Defederation

I was thinking, what really stops a defederated lemmy instance from changing their domain name and/or IP address to evade defederation or re-federate against another admins’ decision to defederate. If someone was doing that, say buying garbage domains and changing their lemmy Instance domain to force federate with people who...

I am confused about Lemmy and Matrix

Hey guys I am confused about how privacy friendly are lemmy and matrix I would love if someone can answer these questions :- 1.) some websites state that lemmy prefers you to have one user server (that is 1 server with only 1 user ) , but somewhere else i read that you need to whitelisted by servers to allow you to post on their...

hsl,

I’ve been remote for over seven years now. I can’t think of anything that would get me back into the office - why would I, when working remotely works so much better for me?

If I were these employers, I’d want to step back and figure out why it’s so important to have people back in the office. Assuming they can find good reasons, work from those. For example, if it’s about some employees actually preferring to work from the office, what kind of hybrid solution can you set up to make them more successful? How can you connect those who are remote and those who are on location? And so on.

Question about possible vulnerability in lemmy

User “Wookie_the_ewok” appears to have changed their username on the same account to “Chuckles the cheese” unless im misunderstanding how lemmy works. Seems sketchy in the sense that could be a way to troll, violate TOS, and evade bans and defederation. Maybe someone more knowledgable than myself could explain better...

How do you know for sure that I’m not a chatbot?

People who keep journals or diaries, do you hand write or type?

I am looking to start getting into this. But I have never enjoyed writing. I also feel a little iffy knowing that my diaries are sitting around somewhere in my room and my family can find it at any moment. If I were to type it would be faster, more secure as I can encrypt it, and it would not get lost as easily as I can upload...

hsl,

I got one of those five year ones and write an entry once I’m in bed each night. The habit is tied to going to bed and the fact that each day has its own space - I don’t want to leave gaps.

hsl,

I’m thinking of putting Diamine Writer’s Blood in my TWSBI Eco 1.1 stub. It feels suitably dramatic.

hsl,

I’ve heard excellent things about both, but I’m also in Europe so haven’t been able to try them.
