Super busy atm but things going well. Nice weather too. Today 🌞 & 20°c (68°F). Trying to get as much of the fence finished as I can before Wednesday because that’s when I plan on waking up my tortoise, Andy, 103 years old. Once he’s up I’ll have to focus on setting him up for the hot season which will be soon upon us 😂
Enjoy what’s left of the weekend if anything, otherwise happy week!
This week, I started on my driveway fence again. This is not yet fastened permanently, but it gives an idea of what the finished product. I'm quite happy. A very good match for my neighbor’s landmark house. Simple but classic.
Good morning from #Pasadena. Gorgeous 🌞 day with 26°c (79°F.)
Working away in the garden. Feeling better than the last couple of days so I’m encouraged.
Picking fallen oranges on the tall grass. Having to shave the grass to the orange level just to find them all. If I’m not careful I get orange juice mist 😆
Cardiologist appointment went very well yesterday. My 🩸 tests have improved a lot. I’m down 8lbs (~3.5 kg) too. We’ve agreed that when my knee improve I need to try and walk backwards on the treadmill - the #KneesOverToesGuy method.
Struggling at the moment between knee problems, neck problems and arm problems. BUT I’m getting work done. Not done the way I like but done nonetheless and maybe I can learn something. Or maybe this will convert me into a #NoDig person! 🤔
I’m cleaning my work path with a #WeedWacker, a device I highly dislike and normally use very sparingly. But without the ability to work on my knees, hand issues and some grasses going to seeds, something needs to be done.
Weed wacking can be dangerous to wildlife but so far I haven’t knowingly hurt anything, like lizards. I guess the noise scares them away. I’m trying to only clear what’s needed to leave wild growth as this is an area I recently decided would service wildlife. An area of about 400 sq. M. or 3600 sq ft.
I’ll admit this is tough on the morale but I try to keep going. Came in for charged batteries. Going to fuel myself up with 1/2-caff coffee too then go back out and continue cleaning the path so I can clean the fallen oranges 🍊 off the ground. It’s gross.
Beautiful day. 🌞 & 23°c (73°F). Trying to make the most of what I can do. Even using electric pruners (aka sécateurs)
@NeadReport 👍🏻 Thank you. I think you meant as a compliment, hopefully. Lots of things fly all over with those tools. It’s amazing. I try to be sensible. Try being the key word.
Moses & I went to the Arroyo Seco yesterday for our walk. It is so beautiful despite the lack of leaves in the trees. So much water. Cattails growing. Beautiful!!
Good morning from #Pasadena. So thrilled to have made much progress yesterday with the fence. All posts are permanently secured to the steel clamps with carriage bolds. Totally solid! I don't mean to brag, but I'm so thrilled everything fits perfectly with almost no cutting or adjustments.
Wishing everyone a great Sunday. If you are in SoCal, get ready for more rain starting possibly tomorrow morning, though the chances aren't as high as the last storms.
@NeadReport Thanks for pointing this out. I don't think I was conscious of being more organized. How I pick up after each day. That involves doing less; keeping time to keep things organized and prepared. Also buying necessary tools :) I have to do this again LOL

Good morning from #Pasadena. ⛅️ & 17°c (63°F) today but with 🌧️ coming tomorrow, I decided to secure the eaves through aka gutter with screws rather than nails because it was sagging creating a small space for the water to run straight down off the roof in some places.
Now off to scan my old photos, something I started yesterday and really enjoying. I have loads of them and I’ll now be able to look at them more easily. I get the feeling I have about 200,000 photos (digital and paper) altogether, but time will tell.
Time to continue/finish the porch floor. Second coat applied except remaining to be applied where I piled all my stuff up.
Initially, before all my health troubles, I’d started painting the porch as a color test. But it all came suddenly to a stop when I had to face some major heart as well as spinal issues. 7 years later: here I am continuing. Better late than never!
We walked 1/2 mile up the trail. I wanted to make the 1-mile marker but Moses is just too nervous. It forced me to constantly look ahead for dangerous drops on the edge of the trail & asses the risk which triggered my vertigo.
Great workout though. We’re going to do wider, less risky trails for now until he’s more at ease with the #AngelesNationalForest because as soon as we cross into slightly more wild areas, his nervousness kicks in.
But practice makes perfect and he’s a great dog who wants to do well. And we both love spending time and going out with each other. #DogWalk#DogTraining.
It breaks my heart but I just decided that Friday’s appointment is too long a wait for #FridaTheBasset given her increasing difficulties eating, so I’ve moved up the #Euthanasia to late Wednesday. This is so painful for me. But I try to imagine what she’s going through and I think it’s the right, generous, humane thing to do. #Dignity#QualityOfLife
When my time comes, if only it could be this easy, for a human too.
Good morning fr #Pasadena. It’s going to be a nice 🌤️ day but cool with a high of only 19°c (66°F)
The satsumas are changing colour very fast now that our nights are turning colder. Last night our low was 7°c (44°F) so for us this is Winter weather already! Beautiful weather to get a lot of gardening done! 😃 I’ll take winter over Summer anytime here!
Sad news yesterday. #FridaTheBasset’s cancer is progressing very fast. She has very little time left. I'm feeling devastated, but I don't want to bring her down so I’ll wait until after she's gone to fall apart, though I won't have time to, because Moses will need a lot more attention then. It's sad, but it's life. Her difficulties eating are increasing very fast. I'm so thankful for my wonderful vet!!! She is such an amazing dog. I will do miss her. We have a #Euthanasia appointment in 6 days.
