I'm really getting nervous about how so many are embracing Threads. When I first heard they were going to federated, I had hoped we would see a stand for users' privacy. wasn't taken up my instance admin, and even the user level block seems worthless as the POTUS account on Threads is still visible demonstrates. 😑😑😑

@slashdot Meta's Threads is not the Fediverse. They may use the protocol, but that's it. Threads is a cesspool, and many of us have that garbage blocked for damn good reason.

A Fediverse service someone should build: daily digest emails that summarizes what happened across the Fediverse, and interesting things that popped up in your feed.

Why make it? Because if you’re away from the Fediverse for a period of time, emails are a nice way to get caught up.

@capper Shittenhouse is one of the few human beings I'd be glad to have been beaten to an inch of his life. The problem now is that the right-wing scum would start playing the victims. Heaven forbid a murderer facing justice. (I watched the videos of that night as they were happening he should've been convicted.)

Jill Stein did not cost Hillary Clinton the 2016 election but Democrats can believe it if they wish. Then they should keep in mind that even more usual Democratic voters are now opposed to Genocide Joe--this time more than enough to really shift the election results. It always kinda scares me when I read certain comments. They’re not numerous, but I see more of them each year. They say things like « the woke EU », or the « EUssr », or « socialist EU ».

They’re generally there when I talk about the EU regulating big tech, or fighting abuses of dominant position, and I just don’t understand how anyone can link that kind of activity to being « woke » whatever that means today, or being « socialist » (which in these people’s minds probably means « commie »).

@thelinuxEXP how many of these comments are coming from Americans? Honestly, I wish the US would regulate the way the EU does, as it puts its people before corporations. Whenever you see "woke" in a business context, it's always meant as "how dare you tell businesses to do the right thing."
