Good morning from #Pasadena. Gorgeous 🌞 day with 26°c (79°F.)
Working away in the garden. Feeling better than the last couple of days so I’m encouraged.
Picking fallen oranges on the tall grass. Having to shave the grass to the orange level just to find them all. If I’m not careful I get orange juice mist 😆
Cardiologist appointment went very well yesterday. My 🩸 tests have improved a lot. I’m down 8lbs (~3.5 kg) too. We’ve agreed that when my knee improve I need to try and walk backwards on the treadmill - the #KneesOverToesGuy method.
Struggling at the moment between knee problems, neck problems and arm problems. BUT I’m getting work done. Not done the way I like but done nonetheless and maybe I can learn something. Or maybe this will convert me into a #NoDig person! 🤔
I’m cleaning my work path with a #WeedWacker, a device I highly dislike and normally use very sparingly. But without the ability to work on my knees, hand issues and some grasses going to seeds, something needs to be done.
Weed wacking can be dangerous to wildlife but so far I haven’t knowingly hurt anything, like lizards. I guess the noise scares them away. I’m trying to only clear what’s needed to leave wild growth as this is an area I recently decided would service wildlife. An area of about 400 sq. M. or 3600 sq ft.
I’ll admit this is tough on the morale but I try to keep going. Came in for charged batteries. Going to fuel myself up with 1/2-caff coffee too then go back out and continue cleaning the path so I can clean the fallen oranges 🍊 off the ground. It’s gross.
Beautiful day. 🌞 & 23°c (73°F). Trying to make the most of what I can do. Even using electric pruners (aka sécateurs)
@NeadReport 👍🏻 Thank you. I think you meant as a compliment, hopefully. Lots of things fly all over with those tools. It’s amazing. I try to be sensible. Try being the key word.
been riding a bike around towns for 20 years and everywhere I go I find that rich white people spend an absolutely incredible amount of time, money, and energy designing ways to keep everyone else away from the waterfront.
California red areas all the way home. Billboards for The Epoch Times. Trump banners. Fascist variations of the American flag. Anti-Newsom/Pelosi signs.
@GottaLaff Originally from Canada. We did move back to Canada at one point and for me the instant stress-reducer was not having to worry about my health insurance, once the provincial coverage kicked in after 3 months. I had lost my job and was on Cobra.
Politically, there were still major issues then, ie the Harper government. And I had found lot of people less vocal and more passive and eventually we decided it was a mistake and moved back. But we weren't in BC :); we lived in Toronto.
Mind you I had so loved Toronto in the past that it really surprised me, wanting to come back and I was in denial for a couple years about it. I hope it's a great move for you. There are a lot of great places and people up there. Generally speaking, a more gentle people imo.Wishing you the best! If I were younger, I might move back again, but I'm tired of moving.
Exclusive: Tesla scraps long-promised low-cost car plans that investors have been counting on to drive its growth into a mass-market automaker ..amid fierce Chinese EV competition
Entry-level Tesla car won’t be built, three sources tell Reuters
• Tesla to focus on self-driving taxis instead, sources said
• Strategy shift comes as Tesla faces competition from China EV makers including BYD
@GottaLaff Nikola Tesla died poor and obscurity. He was brilliant but not business-wise. So it's a great name choice. However, Musk is not brilliant. Far from it. And he shows that so well. He just has money. He's showing the same business mastery as another very well known“businessman” with bad hair, currently tied up in court.
Good morning from #Pasadena. So thrilled to have made much progress yesterday with the fence. All posts are permanently secured to the steel clamps with carriage bolds. Totally solid! I don't mean to brag, but I'm so thrilled everything fits perfectly with almost no cutting or adjustments.
Wishing everyone a great Sunday. If you are in SoCal, get ready for more rain starting possibly tomorrow morning, though the chances aren't as high as the last storms.
@NeadReport Thanks for pointing this out. I don't think I was conscious of being more organized. How I pick up after each day. That involves doing less; keeping time to keep things organized and prepared. Also buying necessary tools :) I have to do this again LOL
Evening all, hope all is well. It's been weeks of dull grey clouds and it's real frustrating. Finding it a little hard to motivate myself to take the camera out with me at present. Hopefully that'll change soon.
Here's a back-lit male Stonechat, during a period where the sun existed 😂
@JimsPhotos Hopefully it has changed for you today. Here we had rain for a week with almost no sunshine, but the sun returned partly yesterday with rain again last night. But today it's been mostly sunny. Here is a little sunshine for you from my dog walk earlier
@JimsPhotos Yeah. Sorry. Here we’re supposed to get a break from rain for at least a week. But it’s quite cool. Only around 10c today. A nice winter day here can be 25c or we’re normally low 20s or upper teens. But we do have sun a lot which does make a huge difference
@JimsPhotos No I’m in Southern California. Pasadena just next to LA. We had to cool winters in a row. We normally get these kind of cold days but more isolated. This and last year it stays cool almost continuously for months. Though nothing too extreme for us ie no hard frost nor snow. But cool and long periods of rain. Much better than the drought though.
We're still trying to close up the gap in digital subscriptions caused by Amazon shuttering their subscription program last year. If you are a former Amazon subscriber looking to sign back up or someone joining for the first time, your options can be found here:
@clarkesworld Even though Amazon tries to restrict access to customer information like this, it really sucks that they would not help you I think. If they could not give you a contact list, they should have contacted the customers for you. @bhawthorne
@willaful FYI “James Crumbley, who also faces four counts of involuntary manslaughter, will have a separate trial in March.”
I think she is a bad mother, regardless. But since it’s her trial and not his, we should wait and see what his verdict will be before claiming misogyny. They were a both unbelievably irresponsible parents as are many who have both kids and guns in the house. I’m happy to see a parent successfully prosecuted for turning their kids into gun-loving criminals. Gun fetish as we see it in America is something largely passed on from parents to kids. If her HB was at fault for this, she should have left him & taken the child away from her. Gun violence is largely preventable @GottaLaff
This is a tough read, but if you're able to we'd encourage you to read it so that you can understand what life is like for our trans, Ugandan siblings living in Kenya.
@transactualuk What a horrible situation where people’s basic human rights are violated because they are LGBT. What should we do to pressure those in power? How can the UN be pressured to do something?
