So, a relative that all she plays in her tablet is solitaire, saw ads of some mobile crap full of microtransactions and now wants some of those. I said i’d check if there was games kinda like those (all puzzles of some sort), and would highly prefer if they’re all FOSS to avoid or at least highly reduce the chance they’re...
Dust is a rewrite of du (in rust obviously) that visualizes your directory tree and what percentage each file takes up. But it only prints as many files fit in your terminal height, so you see only the largest files. It’s been a better experience that du, which isn’t always easy to navigate to find big files (or atleast...
Since around the time they announced the API changes, every image hosted on Reddit, when opened on a browser shows it embedded on a page on Reddit instead of just giving you the damn image, like it used to do. It pisses me off. Need to figure out a way to return it to the previous behavior and just give me the damn images i asked for, maybe something with the user agent (when you ask it to download it instead of displaying it, or when getting it with wget or the like, it DOSE give you the image, so the way is there somewhere).
Somebody I’m helping has an ancient, and i mean ancient (like 3 major versions before latest or so) install of Rundeck doing stuff for them. Might help them upgrade it to the latest (more like reinstall and configure from scratch, it was built years ago with assumptions no longer true), but before i commit I’d like to know...
As the tittle sais, i was trying to create an instagram account and it is not possible without a phone number. Same with discord. Obviously i dont want to provide mine. Any working solutions to bypass this? not looking for alternative private service, i already use them.
Just yesterday wanted to create a new Gitlab.com account to add an issue to a project, the stupid thing not only required an email and a phone number, the bastards wanted a credit card
Just closed the site and went away instead. How is this considered okay to open a damn free account?
We have a machine running some stuff on Docker, and little by little it has started to become important to keep an eye on it. However, looking for information on monitoring a Docker server it always seem to assume you’re running it in Swarm mode, which is not and WILL NOT be the case of this machine, Swarm adds a layer of...
PiHole very explicitly doesn’t touch Youtube ads, because at that level it cannot distinguish an ad from a video, it must be done at the client, so at a guess it will make no difference
A LOT of companies have pushed hard on the enshittification pedal lately, apparently it has to do with interest rates or something like that, i guess it also affects Google
My main issue with Android keyboards is that i need multiple languages on the fly, i might be chatting in one language in one group and on another language on another, or even some limited mix and match in a single phrase. Currently using AnySoftKeyboard, since i can switch languages with a button, but oh damn is the prediction abysmal, looks like it only brings up all the potential words on any order and doesn’t even consider which one’s the most likely, no idea how’s it in reality but it feels like this.
If OpenBoard can cover my use case I’ll switch immediately.
I’d say while it’s possible it’s unlikely, remember that they’re running PC games, all based on X86, the work needed to make Wine/Proton run all of that well on a different CPU set is significant, and would likely break compatibility in unexpected ways, effectively bringing all the recent wins moot and bringing Proton backwards. Definitely something that will likely happen, but more of a long-term goal (unless it’s already in progress and with advances, no idea, but we would all have heard of it already if it was a thing)

Any place cataloguing or reviewing FOSS mobile games?

Thanks to dust I deleted a 70 gig file on my drive

Tired of lately getting blocked to create accounts without a phone number
