jlow,

Yeah, as a German living in the UK it still trips me up that in an unfamiliar flat you can open random doors that looks exactly like any other door but there’s no room behind it, just a 20 cm deep shelve. Sure why not, I guess.

jlow,

Mmmh, it’s difficult. I personally would look into hosted Nextcloud services that have an office suite enabled.

We used windcloud.de/produkte/managed-nextcloud(German company / website)

a while ago but only for (large amounts) of data storage, not sure if they do office.

Also I’m unsure about Nextcloud’s encryption, this says it’s encrypted during transport (https 🤷‍♀️ which I would close the tab immediately if they didn’t do that) and that their disks are encrypted locally. I think what they’re saying is that they’re not using Nextcloud’s encryption feature, not sure if that’s good or bad since it might be that it’s terrible …

jlow,

Yeah, just wanted to say this. In almost all experiments with Universal Basic Income it turns out people don’t wanna scroll Tiktok 24/7 or whatever. Most people want to do thinks that we would call “work”. We just don’t wanna do them in this capitalist hellscape full of meaningless bullshit jobs.

jlow,

I’m using metager.de it’s German and sometimes the results lean towards that but in 99% of cases it doesn’t matter.

jlow,

Ooooh, community-blocking and content-reporting, very good!

jlow,

“You’re not ordering hard enough” 😹

jlow,

Well there’s a (see-through) curtain, so I don’t see the problem (actually I would but 🤷‍♀️)

jlow,

Because you’d need to do all the bridges for other clients yourself. There was a post somehwere here on how to do that a few days ago … and it looked complicated.

jlow,

it’s so weird then to make the app closed source. I would guess that a lot of potential users would care about this and are unhappy with that …

jlow,

Ooof,it’s been a hot minute since I saw those two last, is it still running?

jlow,

O no, I feared that this would be the case. I’m glad they’re still doing stuff, though. Thanks for the link!

Archeologists Discover “Sistine Chapel of the Ancients” With Thousands of Ice Age Rock Paintings (hasanjasim.online)

In the depths of the dense Amazon rainforest, a hidden masterpiece of ancient artistry has come to light, shedding light on the mysteries of prehistoric life. Dubbed the "Sistine Chapel of the Ancients," this extraordinary discovery unveils an awe-inspiring gallery of ice age rock paintings, etched onto an expansive "canvas"...

jlow,

jlow,

Wow, never heard of anything like it though it feels plausible that your ISP would be able to do this. I’m not an expert on this in any way though, just a self-taught, self-hoster. My first thought was getting yourself another router as well, though I’m not 100% sure if this would work. I dimly remember that I had to change my ISP’s router to “modem-mode” or something when I did this years back. And if your ISP doesn’t allows this …

jlow,

You can’t steal, only copy digital things but I know what you mean ^__^

jlow,

Same but unfortunately the YT algorithm doesn’t care about what we want and since we live in this digital capitalist hellscape nothing’s gonna change +__+

  • jlow,

Outchie (if real). I also find the wording super weird, it’s not like they’re sad that ww “11” is dead/over, I hope? Sure “In memory of the lifes lost in WW2” is longer but …

    jlow,

Wow, one of these old-school “random nerd dumps information”-Wikipedia-articles:

    en.m.wikipedia.org/…/Maryna_and_Serhiy_Dyachenko

I love it, let’s hope the editors never find it.

    jlow,

I meant that the article is mostly a collection of lists (novels are listed twice 👍) including „Fictional creatures and objects created by writers“. I think it’s amazing but I’m pretty it doesn’t conform with Wikipedia’s article writing rules.

    jlow,

First Nikolaus und now Ötzi? Oh yeah!

    jlow,

Looks like I was wrong about the subfolders! Just tested it and it looks like you can just zip a bunch of folders called chapter 1, 2, 3, etc, rename to .cbz and at least Komga and YACreader seem to just go through all of them when reading. Very cool!
