If you want some ideas, maybe a good old dub wise dotted 8th note delay on the snare or something, with some time variation, to give some rhythmic contrast.

I was lucky enough to witness parts of the mixing process, I even fell asleep on this while I was in the process of making my piano solo

Ça marche tellement bien les trains et les gares en Suisse, c'est dense, mais c'est clair, c'est à l'heure, c'est pas l'angoisse, pas d'annonces inutiles et à rallonge, pourtant en 3 ou 4 langues. Dans les trains c'est tellement silencieux qu'on s'entend respirer, c'est presque trop d'intimité.

Ah oui, on peut travailler avec le site et l'app, même dans le speed.

ça. marche. bien.

Bref c'est un autre monde.

musing on reducing server cost and resource usage: 1) Faircamp generates the site without any download files/archives at all (only streaming assets are written to the build directory). 2) Instead it generates an additional local/client-side directory - not to be deployed - that contains all releases for download with torrent files. 3) Visitors on the faircamp site can exclusively download releases via torrent/magnet links, and the artists seed the downloads from their own machine (whenever they're online).

Nothing about this is new (on the contrary - file sharing renaissance galore :)), but I really like the idea of mashing up a (cheaper and less resource-demanding) always-on streaming server with a P2P download delivery mechanism (which is entirely re-using existing computers and infrastructure, i.e. avoiding data center proliferation and idle infrastructure). Also fans are downloading music directly from the artist then - literally from their computer. ^^

(Thoughts anyone? Note that this would of course be an additional option, not a replacement of how faircamp handles downloads so far)

@freebliss my 50 cents : artists with works deposited at a right management society (ASCAP/ MCPS/ SACEM/ SUISA...) and with an edition contract (CDBaby...) might trigger a surveillance bot.

My experience is that illegal downloads are monitored at the upload side.

That might not happen often, but it might be something to consider.

Happy if anyone have more info on this.

for info, my works are usually registered at SUISA, and I do have a few albums on Spotify and other platforms via CDBaby.

@freebliss My guess is that they monitor only known torrents. For example : a just released French movie has good chances to trigger the bot when illegally shared in France.

(then the poor guy receives a warning, and is menaced to a huge fine if caught again)

On a du mal à croire que c'est la même chatte. 😁

Chazerty se chauffe la couenne sur le radiateur recouvert d'une serviette de toilette. Elle a une patte qui pend bizarrement en arrière, la moitié du corps enfoncé dans le radiateur, la tête de travers. On dirait un bout de pneu de poids lourd abandonné au bord d'une route et sur lequel des milliers de voitures ont roulé.

    @jaztrophysicist ça me rappelle que quand, dans une autre vie, j'avais un aquarium de 300 litres, j'avais bricolé un élégant cache noir pour masquer le néon et la partie aérienne de la vitre, ça recentrait bien le focus sur la "scène".

    Et puis une fois les combattants avait fait tout leur business de reproduction, avec le mâle qui "accouche" une femelle et place les oeufs dans le nid dans un coin, j'avais appelé mon taf pour dire que j'étais malade pour pouvoir suivre tout le bazar.

    Bon sinon, mon maître Jedi à écouté et validé le Master05 de ma cassette. Il a dit "impressionant, c'est mieux que ce que j'imaginais".

    Next : monter les morceaux en faces A et B et envoyer en duplication.

    J'ai l'impression d'avoir écrit une thèse d'astro-musico-écologie avec @jaztrophysicist et qu'il trouve que c'est du bon boulot.
