Hydrogeophysicist working at Sandia National Labs on radioactive waste disposal in salt and two-phase flow of water and air in volcanic tuff. I’m interested in coupled processes (electrokinetics, thermohaline convection, heat of wetting) in porous and fractured media. #hydrogeophysics #radioactivewaste #groundwater #halite #salt #imbibition

So I've got this empty concrete pad on the side of my house.

It used to have a rotted out 12x24' shed on it, but I demolished that last fall and figured I could do something better... 🧵

@kwf I once built a shed on a slab about that far from the fence line, and when we sold I had to file for a zoning variance because inspectors pointed out I made the roof stick out and the edge of the roof got too close (<1 ft) to the property line. Just thought I would share that lesson learned

Ok, with the gas stove thread, people won't stop asking why I'm not considering an induction cooktop. So here's another thread where I try to answer this.

Perhaps the bottom line is this: I'm a Midwesterner. It carries a lotta baggage.

To elucidate, first you should understand that I have tried induction! Not the best experiences of it, to be sure, but I've used two portable burners and found them both to be impressive (with a few caveats). But on the whole, not a game changer to me.

@TechConnectify induction heats up the pot/pan directly and doesn’t heat up kitchen. After boiling water for tea, the stovetop where the pot was sitting is only warm (not red-hot). You can say the pot or pan is really part of the stove, rather than something you just set on top of the stove
