LCSW by profession but here are mostly my photos of birds. Had lots of friends on twtr (CAScrubJay); hoping to stay connected over here. Los Angeles CA

And to everyone who’s been so kind and enjoyed my photography, let me tell you that I learned photography through repetition. There’s no secret; you just have to do it a lot and eventually you’ll figure things out. And don’t worry about what other people think. It doesn’t matter.

Well, whatever ends up happening, birds have been such a special part of my life. They open up my eyes and ears and heart.

Haven’t been out with the camera in more than two weeks. Not sure how I feel about it yet.

Anacapa island from last year. It’s a huge nesting site for Western gulls. Here’s a Western gull parent shifting eggs to warm them evenly.

In my earlier days of birding, I had very little idea what I was doing. I met a few people, including a veteran birder named Rod who had seen every LA county rarity for decades. I helped him with bluebird box monitoring and was able to learn a lot about where and how to find birds, including several groups of cactus wrens in a local park. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to help someone in the same way.

Heard from some other bird people that it’s National Cactus Day?

I am okay but feeling kinda…off-kilter lately: new car stuff, new cases at work, joined a band—so many changes, none bad, but just disorienting.

Here’s a closer photo of a roadrunner from a golf course several years back. They are surprisingly large birds!

I did see a roadrunner last weekend! This one was pretty far away (running off after catching a lizard).

Took a real break from photography—about four days! I’ll get back to it soon.
