IT'S DOOONE! :blobcatred:

Used my red yarn to make this blobcat prototype before trying with my yellow, I'm really new to crochet this is only my second finished project and first time using a flat circle which came out really nice.

This is basically a flat circle with walls which I just sort of randomly reduced the stitching when it felt right. I mostly guessed with the ears by following a guide for making and attaching doll arms, then doing thar way shorter and putting it on the head.

The mouth was really hard, I didn't realise for Surface Crochet you need access to the underside and I'd already sealed the top and didn't want to re-open it so I sowed some thread in a general shape it came out OK.
I also didn't put enough stuffing inside so it doesn't feel as good to squish as it could, I'll add way more next time.

Overall, very enjoyable took me about a week to learn how to do the circle and then three to four days of intense crocheting once I got the hang of that.

I'd recommend crochet over permissions or Defender any day.

@Baa looks good well done.

Okay, so here's what 3/4 of Death by Cross Stitch looks like. This pattern is huge, I had to get the tall teenager to hold it up so I could get a picture.

Death by Cross Stitch is the name of the pattern by Long Dog Samplers. Thread is DMC 310 and the fabric is white 16 count aida.

@FiStitchWitch @crossstitch this is great! I start falling asleep sitting up if I do one color for more than two hundred stitches. Big kudos to you getting this far.

@sundogplanets I'm envious of your beautiful white landscape. We get snow where I'm at rarely and it's typically more ice than snow.

New project prepped and ready to go! I hate prepping but the colours look nice! Still four colours missing, just need @eerko to print another thingy (=technical term for the purple thing that holds the treads, so maybe thread holder? 🤣)

@Suzan @eerko super bobbins? Super bobbins. Prep always has me probably the most hyped short of about to be finished. Day dreaming about a project to be done only to realize about a few hours in that you'll be working on it for days, weeks, months, or years...and then that excitement of getting close!

The day dreaming about how nice to finish it never stops.

On your storage those look pretty neat. I use small bags with rings holding them together to organize the floss for my projects

@Suzan @eerko you can for sure. Here's a picture of what my prep looks like. I keep the thread in bags, on the rings, in numerical order.

Just thought I would share here in case anyone wants a Christmas SAL to do

@FiStitchWitch @crossstitch there was a lot of math going on in my head of if I could fit this into what little time I had. Will sadly be missing out but maybe after the holidays.

consumableJoy, to knitting

It’s getting close to the end of Sept. I might keep going with the in Oct but here is my Sept summary.
3 pairs of socks done (2 were partway through second sock for years)
1 baby sweater finished
3 projects killed (socks, hat, sweater)
1 camisole planned to be finished but delayed
1 tank top progress made but not done
1 pair of socks cast on (might kill)
1 pair of slippers about to cast on today

Very nicely done. I've got the aircraft carrier complete, multiple characters on my Mario Kart project, and finished all the gridlines for my next big project. I've also received fabric for two other large projects I may try to grid before month's end.

Bowser done, aka best character. With this, the main body is complete, and I've got a stoplight with two Lakitus up top and a line of power-ups on the bottom. Hopefully, I will finish this one in the middle of October.

I've mentioned it before but there's a santa kit I bought last year shortly after starting cross stitch, and then going back to the store to buy it after my wife advised me against it. I've considered killing it and chucking the kit just to free up the space especially as the time invested seems minimal to what I have completed now and how full my plans at this time. That said I've talked about finishing it numerous times as well. Still haven't decided.

I started a really cute Santa pattern last fall, honestly for the time way over my head, but then right when I was about to start working on finishing it in earnest I picked up other projects to make as gifts for folks throughout this year. I'm hoping to pick it back up later this year after my mario Kart project and two more small dragon projects.

I like to keep myself to two projects. I have one at home I do in evenings after schoolwork/kids are in bed and one at work for breaks/lunch. I have on occasion had a third project if I wanted to knock out something small for an upcoming event. In the future when I'm doing two large projects at a time the third project may become more common when I need that feeling of completion

@KestrelSWard @fiberarts

This feeling, I know this feeling. I've got the 82 colors for my next big project organized and all I'd need to do is grab them, my needle, and pick out a big piece of fabric from my bin. Takes a lot of will each day to not start and wait to finish my current big project.

kagerai_leblue,
@kagerai_leblue@mastodon.social avatar

@KestrelSWard @fiberarts I've fallen into a bit of a trap where my interest lies in larger projects. I've got roughly the next 4ish years of stuff I want to do planned out, but I'm looking to sprinkle some of these smaller three week to a month projects around here and there to help. I've fallen in love with full coverage doing my current big one though.

@kagerai_leblue@mastodon.social avatar

@KestrelSWard @fiberarts most certainly agree. I've got one I'm planning on starting late this year that'll hash out to look more like a bunch of small projects stitched together that should be fun

kagerai_leblue,
@kagerai_leblue@mastodon.social avatar

@KestrelSWard @fiberarts I just have to stay out of trouble and not stare at some of the HAED projects I eventually want to do
