@sewing Confession time: I have been sewing for 35 years, many of those as a pro wedding/evening gown maker, in alterations at a bridal shop and a teacher at various fabric shops that I have worked in. I have never attempted shirring. Every time it comes back in fashion, I buy the stretchy thread and a pattern, put them in a drawer and walk away. This time is it. I think the top view would be perfect with wide leg jeans. Do you have a tutorial you like?

Good morning, lovely people! Yoga has been achieved and the tea has been consumed. On the book: driving around the Beltway to look at countertops, clean the bathrooms, maybe make more progress on organizing my sewing room (it became the spillover for stuff in the kitchen and living room). If I can't sew during the whole remodel, I will go batty.

@tiedye I overdyed this with procion orchid with an 1/8tsp of better black for a cooler toned purple. I was concerned that overdyeing it would cover up all the lovely splits but this came out great!

@sewing Do any of y'all have #aphantasia? Even though I now understand why I can't picture how a garment will look on me, it doesn't help get from idea to completed garment. For example, I kinda love this dress and topper (shirt? bolero? shrug?)? I have never worn anything like it so I have no idea if it will work out. (the picture below doesn't show that the dress is a straight maxi with side slits)

@sewing @sewing Does anyone make leggings or other form fitting activewear without Spandex/Lycra/elastane? Are you happy with the results? What fabric/patterns do you recommend? I'd like to move away from plastics in my fabrics.

@wfpb Even though I no longer eat dead animals, I am still a #Maryland girl! It's easy to turn these zucchini fritters into krab cakes by adding a bunch of Old Bay (like start at a teaspoon if you have never had Old Bay). I like to top them with a cashew aioli, also with added Old Bay. Serve on a bun with lettuce and tomato!

@sewing This is my test version of the Bliss briefs from Sinclair Patterns. The rise is a bit high for me, but the rest is a good fit. Sinclair is moving up my list. The instructions are very clear and the patterns are well drafted. Ziggy is a great helper🤣
