i never even liked w10 and 11 seemed just horrible. when i heard about the copilot thing last summer, i decided to start getting familiar with linux so that when 10 dies, i won’t have to use 11 and the AI abomination it evolves into. i soon ditched 10 completely after seeing how much nicer mint is. for my school projects i still need windows on my laptop but after that’s over, laptop gets mint as well.
when i decided to dump windows, i tried lots of distros. most would refuse to install or even boot to live, and the ones that do install successfully have issues with nvidia. like parts of the screen going unresponsive, constantly reverting to 60 hz, and just completely crashing. ubuntu does all three, fedora won’t even install, arch distros can’t find any of my sound devices. but mint works. no nvidia issues, no crashing, all devices work, refresh rate stays at 120. that’s some damn good duct tape.
cool version number but i’m still hoping to get it to keep the system from suspending while transfering files in LAN. then i could finally set my pc to sleep after 15 min inactivity even when i’m watching something on another pc, and not waste electricity 24/7. i mean come on, even stupid windows can do that. please samba devs!
candy tastes good, beer gives me a warm fuzzy feeling, and i ain’t paying 10x more money for a car just so i get to spend 10 hours a week at some charging station so my tablet with wheels can go whirrrr.
none of my classmates or teachers use adblockers. i didn’t expect this in a university. most don’t even know what i’m talking about when i recomment ublock…
i usually have one window open in the background and alt+tab into that, or if not, i hit windows key and it lets me type in the menu and i can launch another program from there. alternatively you can press win+d and it’ll throw the game out of sight. wondering if alt+esc would defocus the game, am not near my pc so i can’t test that yet. or how about swapping desktops? (ctrl+alt+right/left)
a few years ago i noticed that i was constantly hot. i always needed a fan even when others would need a sweater. doctors couldn’t find a cause, so the only explanation i got was that some virus may have altered my hypothalamus. i’m back to normal now, took 3 years to normalize.
usually you need to try out a few distros to find one that works perfectly with your hardware. always test them in live usb before installing to make sure that wifi, sound, etc works correctly.
