Dear Lazyweb, I have an NEC video projector and I can't get it to do DHCP, or become pingable with a static IP. Tried several cables; the switch gets a link light on all. Is there something weird about these that I'm missing? The setup menu seems straightforward.

thinking about the person at that cutiefest-adjacent event the other day who recognized my "GENDER TERRORIST" hat but not me???

and it wasn't from fedi or anything like that

hope it wasn't a "i went to high school with you and saw this hat in one of your selfies on facebook extremely early on in your transition and now you look totally different so i only recognize the hat still" type beat

i mean i'd be fine with looking totally different but i don't want people who knew the old me anywhere near my new life lmao

Sometimes one is weirdly able to worry simultaneously about the most mundane personal matters and the most serious global and national ones. Today, worrying about the situation in the Middle East does not put into perspective the stress of packing up my household for a long-distance move. Instead, my psychic perspective is flattened, with concerns about both occupying the same plane. Know what I mean?

@heidilifeldman I got that too when I had to pack our house to flee Texas (son and I are both trans). We drove from Texas to Washington with the cats in a medium size dog crate in the back. We took them on trips around town some before the big move to get them used to it. After the first few hours they did great.

Post-hoc explanations based on personal interactions with processes that are substantially random will generally be incorrect. The observed patterns will be random, not systemic

IOW, everything written about LLMs from the perspective of a single practitioner can be dismissed out of hand. The nature of LLMs makes it impossible to distinguish signal from noise in your own practice

I suggest not even reading these posts. Our brains are unfortunately wired to mistake confident writing for evidence
