lambalicious,

lambalicious,

The fact that the solution is not to simply invoke the copy constructor, but to (portably!) write an ungodly mess that uses double-references, full noexcept(noexcept(repeat_of_body)) daisy-chaining, std::forward (a function that doesn’t forward), and probably constexpr, and probably explicit(explicit(…)) daisy-chaining, and probably requires(requires(…)) daisy-chaining, and probably constinit, and probably structured bindings, and probably yet another form of auto, and so on…, demonstrates the problem with C++.

There’s a place for macros, and this example shows it is precisely it. I’d just write MAKE_COPY(x).

lambalicious,

xscreensaver is the gold standard for screensavers on Linux, even if the dev is a bit salty that people actually use his software on computers they want to control, and technically speaking the program is nagware, you just won’t (mostly) get to see the nags if you are getting it from your distro’s active repos.

lambalicious,

From the perspective of looking at the internet of today, the future is 1996.

Change my mind.

lambalicious,

If we’re allowed to - and happily do - copy over content from for-profit websites with bots, it feels a bit weird to then get angry about that happening in reverse, no?

Not at all. It’s a matter of asynchronous power play.

We can do the former as a fight against power, but we have to fight for it. When they do it to us, it’s “just business” and we have no defense.

lambalicious,

They do, actually. Some people seriously need to touch grass. Most stuff in life, in particular digital stuff, is not urgent.

lambalicious,

¡Bienvenido a uso Arch btw!

lambalicious,

lambalicious,

…Why is it even behind a paywall anyway? It’s not like ISO 8601 is a super copyrighted novel, it’s just an assortment of letters and numbers in a defined order no longer than one (1) line of a classroom homework.

lambalicious,

I mean, it’s not just “politics” (inb4 everything is); there’s been weird sanitization and cultural collonialism attempts in Emoji and in Unicode since a good while. Consider this weirdness: there’s an emoji for Mount Fuji, but not for any other volcano that can (and is) as well-known or important, like Villarrica, Pinatubo or Vesuvius. Why? Other than “nippon icchi namba one”, I dunno. Or the fact that there’s specifically a section dedicated to japanese food, with rice balls, ramen and such stuff, but not a section for Chilean (or at least Latin American) food like empanadas, cazuela and stuff.

lambalicious,

lambalicious,

I can’t imagine there’d be any damage to posting two or more links: the YT one, a piped one, an invidious one, etc… All sides of the conversation that matter are covered.

lambalicious,

lambalicious,

No.

And even if they did, there’s literally 1234567x different, better ways to solve that problem or any problem than “blockchain”.

lambalicious,

Tbf, these days you don’t even need to do the entire weight lifting of maintain your own website for the most part. I mean, we do are users at SDF, right?

POSSE’s problems start at the very beginning: it requires owning your own website, which means buying a domain and worrying about DNS records and figuring out web hosts, and by now

You don’t need your own domain to have your own site. Sure, it’s ideal to have, but not necessary; all you need is a “community name provider” that you trust to remain trustable for as long as you care to maintain your webpage. For me, that could have been Geocities back in its time; now, well, it’s SDF. Neocities is tempting me tho

Buying your own domain I feel like it’s oversold and overblown. Domains these days barely mean shit when it comes to security, authenticity or longevity (as we’ve seen with eg.: the entire .ml fiasco, or the fact that you can very perfectly get malware from domains like Steam’s or Microsoft’s).

lambalicious,

lambalicious,

What are you talking about, it’s about 110 songs with a good enconder, that’s like 8~10 albums.

lambalicious,

lambalicious,

crypto

You mean those scam pseudo-coins where I can pay $10 today and it’s worth $0.00093 for the receptor of the payment when they want to use it to eat tomorrow? Sure! That’ll absolutely work!

lambalicious,

I don’t have to be a soldier on anyone’s ethical recursion war, so since the default position is set to kill 1 person, that gets done by the problem itself and the whole thing is solved without me having to do anything.

As a further bonus, now the lever people on the next branches are free to get out of the levels and go release the other prisoners.
