I should really not be allowed to buy clothing anymore. I own zero nice dress shoes aside from docs, but have managed to waste money on a designer rhinestone jacket and pirate skort over one month. Neither of which I can justifiably wear for work, or anything practical.

Rules for Long Term Work Vegas Strip trips that nobody tells you in their DEF CON guides:
👉🏻the casinos give you nothing, not even coffee - and definitely no fridge or microwave. You have to truck in everything. Body wash. K cups. Whatever. Or stay at an extended stay and plan to walk a ton.
👉🏻you are super far from everything including the hotel gym, and it’s three opening hours a day, so basically plan your CVS trips and your in-room workouts
👉🏻the sunless casino environment is psychologically exhausting after three or four days, so plan to do a few things like dinner or a hike totally off strip to recuperate and bring melatonin
👉🏻food and drinks are going to be insanely expensive no matter what, so maybe don’t bother with crap places if you’re going to dine on strip. A lot of buffets are quantity over quality. So are the daiquiri stands. Work out some genuinely well reviewed places before hand, and get reservations if needed - or learn where Subway is and plan a ton of time to get there and wait.
👉🏻the Ticketmaster sites are a racket, just go to the box office they can do more for you last minute unless you want to see some huge one night act.
👉🏻be prepared for amateur hour drinkers absolutely any route you take on the strip and add extra time to get there (as always, comfortable shoes)
👉🏻you’ll almost always have a better and more affordable experience sitting at the bar and talking to the bartender than at a table almost everywhere remember what day are Friday and Saturday, and basically hide
👉🏻Remember that formula 1 construction has made it pretty impossible to drive or Uber anywhere in reasonable time on strip in 2023
👉🏻get the casino hotel app, because you will not get front desk service you are used to at a hotel the size of Vegas casinos. Most use chat apps and AI assistance, as well as self service kiosks.
👉🏻the casinos are always freezing and outside is usually super hot, so plan accordingly

I’m low key incredibly-incredibly nervous about teaching my first SANS class this week, even though I speak all over the world, do Toastmasters, have taught weekly for the past decade, and do the subject matter as a principal, daily. I sincerely hope I don’t fuck it up. I’m going to see RuPaul after the class in case I do, though.
