@J12t interesting read. Seems written by someone who has just learned of the fediverse for the first time so the language is very strange. The paragraph about how Flipboard federated someone into the fediverse made me laugh.
Everyone is getting tablets or tactile laptops for uni. (In order to take notes with a stylus).
And I was looking at an excuse to get an #mnt pocket… Tho I'm not sure this is a good idea for this usecase.
I'm mainly concerned about battery life and the fact that I cannot take notes with it.
I guess that my other option would be to explore Chromebooks that support Linux. (Tho I'm incredibly ignorant of their situation, want works and how well it works).
@SrEstegosaurio the screen is a standard size and should be able to be upgraded to a touch screen if you found one that had linux drivers tht worked alright (though of course that's a whole rabbit hole that I am not suggesting you go thu unless you were really committed)
MNT Pocket Reform PSA: Some package installs appear to pull in a kernel upgrade. Unfortunately, this doesn’t automatically upgrade the matching WiFi driver package reform-qcacld2.
After installing software with apt, make sure to run apt install reform-qcacld2 or apt upgrade so that you have the latest WiFi driver.
Otherwise, you can't connect to WiFi after reboot and will need USB/Bluetooth/Ethernet (or a MicroSD bootdisk) to get it back. We’re working on an automatic hook to fix this.
some terms seem to be spreading from the crypto sphere into more general conversation and one of them is the suffix -pilled. I have been hearing it around enough I keep almost using it by mistake. Is there a better term (slang preferred) to refer to someone who has entirely bought into the propaganda of a thing?
@tripofmice I like -core and -coded but I feel there's quite a bit of drift symanticly. If I said someone was cryptocore I feel that would imply more astheticly and cryptocoded feels like it would imply more subtlety
