I write software for things that aren't computers.
There is a lot of noise in my head, it comes out here. I try not to post anything important.

@NormanDunbar @Workshopshed @OReillyMedia

There is about 100 pages of new material, updates to existing information. Four new chapters (motors, interrupts, IoT operations, and debugging hardfaults).

There is a big section about different kinds of main loops that I think is interesting.

Overall, it was about the same amount of works as the first edition. :)

Is origami art? Depends on what you do with the paper. But if you do make art, there the Joisel Award:
https://origamiusa.org/thefold/article/third-joisel-award

The well-deserved winner this year is Head Empty, designed, folded and photographed by Boice Wong.

Thinking about making panettone but I don’t have any candied fruit. Are diced gummy worms a good substitute?

If you hit . on a github.com repository, you get a VSCode interface which makes for a nice way to explore a code base (or do a minor commit).

Could someone explain shoot-through current? Ideally with puppets.

What I have so far:
In truth, none of electronics really is as instantaneous as we pretend. It takes time for the FETs to turn on. When you have multiple of them (like with that H-Bridge), sometimes they can crowbar - get stuck in a bad position, usually shorting the supply's power to ground and ending the world (for your device).

(I am kidding, this is not an actual request for help. Unless you really will use puppets.)

Motors use power to turn around, right? What happens when they stop? The power doesn’t suddenly disappear as the motor jerks to a halt; the motor can return a little bit of power to the circuit.

Of course, this isn’t a lending library, the circuit doesn’t want the power as it may have cooties.

Classpert is offering my Making Embedded Systems class as an asynchronous cohort!

This means you'll be going through the class with others. There will be discussions and mentor (and my) help on the Discord. (No live classes but you get access to the best bits of the previous live classes.)

The plan is $599. There is a limited time discount for $499:

The @stoneymonster and I have a years-long low-key fight about whether the auto-dispenser for hand soap is a good or terrible idea.

As it is currently spitting up soap when no one is around, I am winning! I just heard him shout "Stop it!" at it.

Soon that little sucker will be gone and I will dance upon its soapy grave.
