Today at AccessU I weighed in on a group discussion and one of folks said they were surprised I wasn’t more cynical about the topic. Someone else in a separate chat commented how measured I was in my responses from what they expected. Another wondered why I wasn’t swearing.

I get the sense my online persona might be a lot gruffer than I am IRL. Might need to tweak one of those.

The 8 year old is having existential thoughts. On the way home from soccer practice:

Him: what was it like before I was born?

Me: we had your brothers, everyone was a bit younger, etc.

Him: no, I mean, what was it like? Was everything just black?

Me: oh, are you asking what it was like for you? You didn’t exist.

Him: [ the biggest “wtf” face a kid can make ] I don’t get it.

Me: yeah, you didn’t exist before you were born.

Him: that’s… that doesn’t make sense.

I've not mentioned plantar fasciitis for a while.

After exhausting all the usual options (stretches, insoles, massage gun), I started wearing barefoot shoes. A few months ago I got an outdoorsy pair that have flexibility and a roomy toebox, but thicker grippier soles and more insulation.

The single point of pain just forward of the heel that's a classic PF symptom is largely gone.

I have achier feet at the end of the day as they're doing more work. But I think it's a win!

Back in the days of Twitter and now here on Mastodon, I wished for a switch I could toggle that had two states: "all retweets/boosts off" or "all retweets/boosts on", and I bet I'd use that switch at least a few times per week.

The existing option—on or off per person—is nice, but I seem to be someone who is (or, is not) in the mood to see boosts globally.

Somedays I want to see what you want to promote from those I don't follow, other days I only want to see what you're writing.
