@sarajw Yay, very cool! It has been a life-changer for us and I‘m sure it‘ll be one for you, too – so much freedom to roam about with family and groceries!
@otaviocc not sure these are great for actual babies - you may be better off with the bucket style front loaders for those :) but this is great once the kids are able to hold on for themselves!
Just realised this might come across middle-class boasty - like - I'm not buying this outright, and it's one of the cheapest bikes of this kind available. I'll be paying for it monthly pre-income-tax.
These schemes pop up in a few places - this one is in Germany, but I also took advantage of a similar scheme in the UK years back. I still have that bike too.
It's a great way to get yourself a bike which would otherwise leave a big hole in your pocket or bank account. Worth looking up, if you'd like to have access to something like this but can't justify buying one outright all at once.
@sarajw I have the exact midwestern anxiety about my ebike, but I think of it more as a very cheap car, than an expensive bike, and that helps me feel less "oh well, la deee dahhh"
@ericmikkelsen lolol. Yeah I spent many years suspicious of ebikes. Like it was cheating. But honestly I am indeed less fit now and while I can pull the kids in a trailer along the flat with a normal bike, hills are no-go. And they're too big for it anyway.
So a powered bike on this form factor makes so much sense to me now! I definitely got it for those spontaneous trips that would be ideal for a car, but we just don't want one. We use car rental and sharing too when it can't be avoided.
@sarajw aw, it’s not braggy at all to say how happy you are with something! I would argue it’s actually humble to show gratitude even if you bought it :) very cool ride. Your kids are so lucky 🤩
@evan thanks! I ummed and ahhed for a long time because we ride anyway, but public transport has been messed up enough weekends in a row that I was like right, I need a solution where I can take the kids longer distances without panicking about their safety and energy levels (they're 6 and 4 and ride well, but only little single speed bikes and sometimes give me safety heart attacks)
