meant2live218,

I don’t play Modern, but does this help push back on Rakdos Scam?

meant2live218,

Split cards are back? And with 3 colors among them? This is exciting!

meant2live218,

Unfortunately, I don’t find this too exciting in a constructed world. Maybe in limited it’ll see use, but it’s really not doing much for the board state.

meant2live218,

Definitely feels like a limited card (like almost every other suspect/suspected cards).

meant2live218,

This feels way overcosted for what it is, but I guess it’s following the morph rule (5 mana to make it something that won’t trade with another 2/2). I guess this is one of the pieces for the Gruul “Aggro Disguise” draft archetype?

meant2live218,

Does this card seem strong enough to see play in many formats? Obviously, the body is ridiculous, and the main question is whether or not it affects things immediately or not. I want this to be good, but without any evasion, this might only be so-so.

meant2live218,

Atraxa, 20 of these slimes, some boardwipe protection, some ramp, and then all the token/counter doublers you can find?

And then I guess any of the cool/fun other Oozes.

Honestly, sounds like a fun time!

meant2live218,

How do you feel about “target opponent loses that much life” vs “it deals that much damage to target opponent”?

That being said, it’s still 1 mana cheaper, and while it doesn’t have the fight ability, it still kinda pushes your opponents to block because of the triggered ability.

meant2live218,

Looks like the original tweet ended as (Rock Band) to indicate the game that took #1 back in 2008, and either OP or the auto-titler missed the parentheses?

meant2live218,

Honestly seems like an EDH card, but I’ll at least try to make something silly happen with this and Bedrock Tortoise in Standard.

meant2live218,

Wait, this seems… Maybe constructed playable? 2/2 Ward 2 for 3, and then for 2 more mana (at ANY time) you get to either flicker something or turn whatever scary permanent your opponent has into a weenie? I don’t know where this belongs, but it sounds strong.

meant2live218, (edited )

That’s been there for a while now, I think since the Magic Origins edit to the modern frame? It’s supposed to be a fountain pen tip, or a quilltip or something.

The 8th edition frame has the whole paintbrush before the artist name.

meant2live218,

Alright, so this maybe sees play in Mono-white aggro?

You essentially have to take a turn (or half a turn) to hopefully turn this into card advantage on future turns. Doesn’t affect the board state immediately, but might give the bit of gas mono-W needs to push through.

In Standard, this will see all creatures other than Adeline (if you have at least 3 creatures on board) and Knight-Errant of Eos.

In Pioneer, this will see all creatures other than Adeline and Extraction Specialist. Not sure if there’s room for this in Boros Convoke; there are too many non-creature spells you need to hit.

meant2live218,

Copter! Time to update my Explorer deck (Gruul Boats), to get it a step closer to the full Pioneer version.

meant2live218,

First, I’m glad they found the kid. No one deserves to be manipulated and taken like that.

Second, dude, wtf? He’s in his 30s and thinks that this is something he should do? The kid is literally half his age, and he seems to think that they’re in any position for a genuine romantic relationship? Gross.

meant2live218,

His point is that even if the Germans of 8-9 decades ago were stuck in a bad position such that fascism was their best choice, the people who are leaning into fascist ideals today don’t have that same excuse.

meant2live218,

Is the cryptonomicon referencing actual cryptography, or cryptocurrency nonsense? The Enigma is cryptography, but the online bank thing makes me think it’ll touch the cryptocurrency stuff.

meant2live218,

Interesting move by the Padres. When I saw reports saying that they were shopping Kim and Cronenworth out, I assumed they were in fire sale mode. Getting a potentially great closer is not the direction I thought they would be moving in.

meant2live218,

I second the nomination for The Witness! A game that teaches you the puzzle systems and challenges you without using a single word. And then when you realize what’s going on, the game suddenly gets twice as deep.

meant2live218,

Great game, would highly recommend it to anyone who has fond feelings for JRPGs.

meant2live218,

I didn’t think there was any risk of them leaving, but I’m glad they’re staying where they are.

Plus, I still haven’t gone to see a game at OPACY, so this gives me another 30 years to procrastinate on that.

What makes elves fun to play?

@dnd

Something I've been puzzling over with my stuff is about the classic elf. I don't really know what makes the Elves a compelling race to play. I'm thinking of changing them quite significantly for my campaign, but how far can I change them until they no longer hit the same buttons?

meant2live218,

I play a wood-elf monk in my current campaign, and part of the power fantasy for me is being fast, lithe, and graceful. I think people may go for high elves for the majestic, pristine, timeless feels. And Drow for a sort of “tainted perfection” vibe? Not sure.

meant2live218,

Does anyone have advice for Khans? I wasn’t playing back when it came out, and all I’ve heard is that it’s a good, but difficult, set to draft.
