meant2live218,

Shin Megami Tensei is a long-running series, though the games are all standalone (think Final Fantasy). I think SMT VI came out in the last 2 years, if you wanted to give it a try.

For a brief idea of it, it’s about convincing demons and spirits to join up with you as you move through some sort of post-apocalyptic world. You then end up fusing various spirits together in order to become stronger.

Harper played but got ejected after contesting a check swing call.

Aw shoot. These are super pretty. I’m using the Tokyo Lands secret lair basics, but this is tempting.

What are we all using for video chat in 2023?

The last time I tried to make video chat work with people, we dived between jitsi, facebook messenger, zoom... until something worked well enough. what are people using here now? Jitsi? Google Meet? Whatsapp? Facebook Messenger? Zoom? Skype? Facetime, somehow? The builtin thing in matrix that used to be jitsi but I think they...

meant2live218,

Teams at work, Facebook Messenger with family, and occasionally Discord with online friends (or with family, if we’re having a game night). About half of my family uses iPhones, so they often Facetime each other, but whenever it’s a full family call, we know that everyone can use Messenger. I’ll occasionally use Duo or whatever it’s called to call my dad, and that’s about it.

‘It will take years to recover’ from Tuberville blockade, top Navy nominee says (www.politico.com)

President Joe Biden’s nominee to be the Navy’s top officer, Adm. Lisa Franchetti, said it could take the service years to recover from the impacts of Sen. Tommy Tuberville‘s blockade of hundreds of senior military promotions....

meant2live218,

From what I had read somewhere, the holdup is in batching a ton of the promotions into a single voting item. Batching them together requires a unanimous vote, so by voting against it, Tuberville gets to hold the entire process hostage. Promotions can still occur, but each promotion would likely take weeks or months of work and deliberations.

If you play on a separate account specifically to play in a different skill range, then that would be smurfing. But if you play through the calibration games on that account to your best ability, then it should place you roughly where your other account would be within a handful of games.

When I was losing weight, tracking my progress on things like running and weight helped me stay consistent with it. Every time you exert yourself, it’s towards a goal, and if you can track your progress it feels less pointless.

meant2live218,

I’m not a Linux user, so maybe this is all way over my head, but what’s the purpose of software like this?

meant2live218,

Thanks, that’s cool! I remember using ssh back in college when I was attempting to major in computer engineering and interacting with the student server.

Is keystroke timing a legitimate way for programs to decipher/narrow down a password?

In its first week, Immortals of Aveum had a peak count of just 751 players on Steam. (steamdb.info)

After 5 years in development and heavily pushing Unreal Engine 5 technologies, Immortals of Aveum was met with a whopping 751 player peak. For reference, Forspoken was considered a flop but still had over 12,000 players peak total. This may be the biggest flop of the year.

meant2live218,

I didn’t know this existed until I saw the Nextlander guys playing it, and even then I didn’t catch the name of the game.

Zero marketing means that unless the game is absolutely amazing, there will be no word of mouth and no buzz, leading to no one noticing the game at all.

meant2live218,

Newer posts are saying that the injuries were likely caused by gunfire from more than a mile away. Glad to know that this wasn’t some sort of domestic terrorism attack, but it’s still unsettling.

What goes up must come down, but geeze, some people are dumb.

meant2live218,

I haven’t been playing too much Standard, but I have my pet Golgari Titania Meld deck, and I have a so-so Mono-G list and a Gruul modified list.

That does look like a fun twist on the Rakdos that we’ve all been subject to for the last few months!

meant2live218,

Yeah, I often try to roll like:

Turn 1: Evolving Adaptive or Kumano Faces Kakazan
Turn 2: Quirion Beastcaller Turn 3: Kodama of the West Tree for ramp, or Migloz for aggression Turn 4: Halana and Alena or Thundering Raiju

If your opponent hasn’t removed your stuff along the way, they’re basically dead.

meant2live218,

This is why I’m the rules guy in my board game group. I sit down, absorb the rulebook, think about edge cases and check online for answers, simulate a game on my own, and then I get everyone together to sit down and learn the game.

Turns out the ability to hold the rules to like 6 different board games in my head, while not vital for daily life, is a superpower that I intend to fully use.

meant2live218,

I’ve gotten so used to the /r/baseball version of these posts that I was looking in the wrong quadrant for the Dodgers.

Side note, those Braves are scary. Watching one of their games, they look like the most well-oiled machine right now.

Typically, unless you have a card that says you may do something with the cards exiled, you can’t “un-exile” them. However, this card says that you may play them from exile, meaning you may play a land or cast a spell from exile. You can’t use certain effects like Channel or Cycling because those specifically require being discarded from your hand.

A treasure token is an artifact token with the activated ability of “Tap, Sacrifice this treasure: Add 1 mana of any color”. So, it’s essentially a portable mana that you can use at any time (as long as it’s not tapped down by something), or an artifact token for decks that have synergies with those.

meant2live218,

There was some support for Green artifacts in BRO, and there’s that Gruul elf from DMU? I’m curious to see if there’s a deck out there that goes Teething Wurmlet, Gala Greeters, this elf, and Kami of the West?

As for the enchantment part, I’m not sure. I guess the new Role auras would help support it?

meant2live218,

I saw this mentioned on The First Pioneers’ Discord. Does this possibly fit in with Bard Class?

meant2live218,

Dimir Flash will probably become a thing again, which is neat.

meant2live218,

As others have said, the Actions menu has a shortcut to saved posts, whether you make it part of your bottom bar or Floating Action Button.

Another neat trick is that long-pressing the Action menu will automatically shortcut to whatever the first action listed is. So if you rearrange it so that Saved posts is the first action, your saved posts will always be 1 long-press away!

meant2live218,

The few times I’ve played it (with my admittedly competitive group), we’ve always gone through the entire deck. If a group of 4 isn’t getting through the deck, it means people aren’t calling card draw/card selection enough, and may be plopping down suboptimal cards just to use what they have.

I would also recommend Wingspan, but it’s not the same style of game. Everdell felt a lot like Agricola, but less punishing and more fair about card availability and variance.

meant2live218,

Ticket to Ride unfortunately did nothing for me.

My friends and I had been playing mostly Catan for about 5 years before we tried Ticket to Ride. It just didn’t feel very strategic, but maybe that’s because it was our first time playing. It felt like the cards you were dealt basically determined whether or not you would win, and “blocking” someone else didn’t feel like it was truly worth the effort. Years later, my CS and EE professor would say how it was a fun game because of how it actually resembled some problems in networking, but I just never grasped that level of depth.

meant2live218,

On PC, the download size is 100GB, install size is 122Gb, and the devs recommend 150GB, probably for saves and potentially mods one day.
