Turns out that at https://fkcaps.com/custom/ I can buy custom color and custom label low-profile keycaps for the kailh choc brown switches of my MNT Reform open hardware laptop. I might've gone a bit overboard but I really like how colorful my keyboard is now and how easy it is to make the Reform my very own custom computer. 💻 ❤️

@josch amazing! how did i miss this?! probably should have logged into discord in the last year or so

mntmn,
@mntmn@mastodon.social avatar

@josch ahhhh so there is a catch :D but nonetheless, cool. discord because i chat with FKcaps via discord, it's their messenger of choice

Microsoft suddenly going to town again with ARM/qualcomm surely will be good for us in terms of more arm64 software compat and Linux mainlining efforts for Qualcomm hw.

also, people who are tired of all these AI anti-features can be sure that the MNT Reform family will be free of that stuff.

@chainq also my main question atm. at least we can start with QCS6490

Holy smokes does this website bring Firefox on to its knees. Even two Xeons and Radeon Pro w5700 can't carry this.

@thomholwerda on iphone safari a bunch of fonts seem to be missing which are then replaced with times new roman, esp the main Surface Pro type over the first video 🙃

what's the easiest way to forward input events (mouse, keyboard) from a wayland (wlroots) session on one computer to the other (also wayland/wlroots)?

mntmn,
@mntmn@mastodon.social avatar

hadn't seen netevent yet. the setup seems a tiny bit involved https://github.com/Blub/netevent

mntmn,
@mntmn@mastodon.social avatar

ok netevent was a bit tricky to set up (because of permissions), but wow it works well... i can use my MNT Pocket Reform as a wireless keyboard+mouse(trackball) now :0

mntmn,
@mntmn@mastodon.social avatar

@josch the opposite is true! this is how it is prototyped :D

mntmn,
@mntmn@mastodon.social avatar

@chiefgyk3d didn't feel any delay! i didn't try playing a high reaction speed game with it though

here's the first demo i've seen so far of the upcoming toponaming (topological renaming?) fix for FreeCAD that has been in the works for a while now. i think it's gonna be a big deal in terms of FreeCAD usability https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvRpOzig6D4

done with the second revision of the RK3588 module for MNT Reform (and Pocket Reform as soon as there are DSI display drivers mainlined). i've been running the first rev in my laptop for weeks (months? lost track of time on this one). this rev has a bunch of fixes and new stuff:
—"wifi/bt" connector to support any kind of off-board sdio/uart/usb module for wifi/bt or other things
—lpc spi connection for system controller
—hdmi fixes (4k@60 works now!)
—extra sai audio lines for phone/modem

the same MNT RCORE module in the pcb editor of kicad, 6 layers, it's a maze of crisscrossing signals

@kop316 if this one doesn't have any showstopper bugs then yes, otherwise there will be a rev 3

@gsuberland hot plug detect signals of two hdmi ports were swapped, edid was wonky/didn't work
