Function-passing obviates the need for most object-oriented design patterns if your programming language is functional enough.

Trying out a #GPT4All small language model of 7B parameters.

It's able to produce small code snippets and quite fast. Should be good enough for writing small functions and throwaway shell scripts.

Edit: I'm running it locally on an M1 Mac. GPU is not required.

Occasionally I stop to think about how much of the modern software development infrastructure and community is run at a massive loss: Stack Overflow, npm, Github Copilot (probably Github itself), VS Code.

Also how much of it is owned and run by Microsoft.

So much of it could disappear at a short notice if just one CEO changes his mind about his company’s marketing strategy.

I've seen so much open-washing in the past few months that when a corporation claims that their product is "open-source" on the front page of their website, I start with the assumption that it is false marketing until it gets disproven after I read through the license.
