Ok, is over. Who’s thinking of going to ? It’s in Philadelphia, which isn’t far (relatively speaking) from me. I’m thinking of going for a day or two (maybe just a day trip) to keep the cost manageable.

Working on my column, which I decided to do on geomorphs ... because it turns out there are A LOT of geomorphs out there.

I decided to play with as a possible tool for organizing campaign notes: https://logseq.com/

I then stumbled across a minor holy war between logseq people who proclaim it is a note taking app, and so MUST use bullets for everything, and others who are confused about why a Markdown editor adds bullets to anything.

Short version - it's not a Markdown editor. It uses its own flavor of Markdown, and its purpose built for note taking ... and forces everything to use bullets.

A friend of mine is looking for simple but good strategy games for her 17-year-old son. He likes Fluxx and Troika.

He does not like games with a big back story that take hours to play.

Catan or Carcassone are too complex (and Arkham Horror is TOTALLY out of the running).

Basically, games that you can play in 30-60 minutes, NOT games that take 30-60 minutes to set up, and then hours to play.

#RPGaDay2023 - Will Still Be Playing in 20 Years

Let’s see, in 20 years I’ll be 71 … so yeah, the answer will still be Dungeons & Dragons. Hopefully, it’ll be with the Blackrazor Guild, but if not, there’s always the grandchildren and their friends.

More important, I think, is how we will play these games and what opportunities for community we’ll have in our golden years (golden, because we will finally have defeated the black dragon Woryx, and looted his hoard…) https://www.nuketown.com/rpg-a-day-2023-will-still-play-in-20-years-time/

Thinking of creating a regional map (Yeomanry, Hold of the Sea Princes, Keoland, Sterich, Geoff) for my #ElementalApocalpyse campaign using Inkarnate instead of Worldography.

I like Worldographer, but I feel like I'm spending more time futzing with the interface than I am building out the map (making me less likely to actually build out the map)..

So ... I'll try Inkarnate instead (as it has a bunch of assets for overland maps).

Considering tools that I could use to draw battle maps for . There's a heavy bias in mapping tools toward fantasy (for obvious reasons) so finding themed sets is challenging.

Any suggestions?

Their obnoxious attempts to upsell me to premium with every word I write are as annoying as they are distracting.

Question for the hive mind: what's a good bike chain lubricant for bicycles?

The bikes in question are typically used for commuting to work (a ride of a mile or two) and the occasional easy trail ride (e.g. the D&L Trail in the Lehigh Valley).

Doing a web search for this question returns way too many niche results.

Attacking my Wall of Procrastination, starting with my annual self-eval for the day job.

Alas, my efforts are unlikely to make the list, though we did successfully complete 2 three-year campaigns. Not bad for a gaming group that only meets for 1 hour a week.
