@kbob Agreed, alas, whatever goes into the description of each plugin is up to its author, so that is feedback you should best direct at the author of the plugin.
Are issues marked "up for grabs" stuff you would like to see worked on but don't have time? Looking to help, wondering what are some good first issues to look at.
@goeland86 You keep bringing this up again and again. All I can say is, with OctoPrint I target a different audience than Klipper.
It might well be that manufacturers go there now. They also go to proprietary solutions & lock-in in general. And yes, that might break the neck of OctoPrint long term.
But that's not something I can fight. There still seems to be value seen in OctoPrint, or adoption wouldn't rise. But that adoption currently doesn't transfer. And that's what I hope to pull around
@goeland86 And if I see my usage numbers twindle and the income with them, to a point where it's no longer sustainable, that will be the message for me to stop.
Because if OctoPrint no longer provides meaningful value, I don't see why I should continue to work on it (it's stressful AF tbh, albeit also fun). So in THAT case I'll know it's time to say goodbye.
But with the current reverse situation? Usage climbing, income falling? That's not Klipper, that's finance crisis and bad communication.
@goeland86 I know you mean well, and want to help.
It's just that I can only worry about so many things at a time, have a ton of other stuff to keep an eye on as well, all the while of COURSE also thinking about things like that a lot, and trying my best to keep everyone happy, informed, supported etc.
So, you are preaching to the choir, but my day only has 24h, my head only so much space for worries, and at some point I just need to prioritize.
@doctormo@mooklepticon I've had an unobstrusive note in the setup wizard for a long time now and as far as I can see it didn't get much attention.
So that will become a bit more visible going forward, but I'll also focus on generating visibility for this after the app has been used a bit, as personally I'd rather donate after I've gotten some use out of a tool rather than right while I'm starting it for the first time, and I could imagine it's similar for others.
@ironicbadger Absolutely! Avid self hoster myself (though admittedly not a listener so far). And since I just saw what your day job is, it might interest you to know that new OctoPi-UpToDate builds are built on GitHub Actions and then automatically tested on real hardware sitting on my desk, through Tailscale ^^
