Awhile back on Twitter, I wrote a small thread called "Notes for UI Designers Who Have Lost Their Way". Recently @louie asked if I brought it over here yet.
Well, here is the original post. I'm hoping it will engender a great discussion as it did on Twitter, as these issues still exist.
There is a corner of "Travel YouTube" where there is no voiceover, just subtitles, and the occasional voices from servers and food/lodging hosts… and it's delightful. I notice my breathing and heart-rate slowing.
I contrast this with how I watch 'normal' videos. I have decided I need to watch more of these more often.
Who in the Mac universe is making apps that use the neural engine hardware? Is anyone doing LLM stuff on-device based on an existing model? If so, how much faster is it than, say, a recent NVIDIA card or CPU-only?
I feel there’s a huge amount of real estate on my CPU (m1 ultra) that’s basically unused.
@ivory I don’t know if this is technically a problem with the new Ivory (iOS), but I tapped a link which opened in the internal web view (a TikTok video) watched it with the sound on, then dismissed it with a swipe. Later, the sound came back on (for the next auto play video), and I couldn’t do anything to get it to stop. I even manually killed the app. I opened it back up, and a minute or so later (phone was locked, screen off), it started again…
