okamiueru,

Could “Billionaire X’s latest stupid remark” not be considered “technology” news?

okamiueru,

Russia (I assume this is what you mean) didn’t go “alt right”. They likely spend a lot of resources encouraging right wing politics in all countries they benefit from weakening the stability of. It’s no surprise they had a hand in helping Trump, brexit, Bolsonaro, NRA. Just look at who they supported in a massive disinformation campaign in Poland, a leader of the ultra-nationalist, neo-fascist “All-Polish Youth”.

To anyone in general, not OP: inb4 any whataboutuism about US meddling in the world. It’s a separate matter. Two things can be shit at the same time.

okamiueru,

Looks terrible. old.reddit.com was, not surprisingly, equally bad. It was just great compared to reddit.com. Not sure who requested this though. Which is coming from someone who would have left reddit a long time ago had it not been for old.reddit

okamiueru, (edited )

What are you on about?

okamiueru,

Seems News is just “US News”. I gave up all interest in US politics after the 2016 primaries. Good luck with fixing your shit. I’m out.

okamiueru, (edited )

Buy a domain sure, but just use paid protonmail and use it with the domain you bought. It takes a few minutes to set up, and if protonmail ever goes to shit, you still own the email address. Maintaining your own email server just isn’t worth it imo.

okamiueru,

You do know cluster munitions are not considere a war crime, right? It’s a different agreement than the Geneva convention. Now, of course using it against civilians is covered (RU has done this, UA has not yet). What is mentioned in the Geneva convention is the responsibility to remove unexploded ordenances.

okamiueru,

I think it makes sense. It’s unfortunate, but Russia isn’t doing much in good faith, and it limits certain otherwise freedoms. Same with access to Internet. Trolls are everywhere in numbers. They play dirty in politics and are driving forces behind much of what I hate in the world, from the NRA og brexit. Anything that destabilises the west is in their playbook. Not getting to play, would be such a breath of fresh air.

okamiueru,

Why would anyone straight have a problem with anyone being gay? Are they all in the closet and think that what they feel is what everyone feels, and somehow the fault of gay people?

okamiueru,

Paying for a service you enjoy is surely not pointless?

okamiueru,

It’s not really an accurate analogy, nor is this concept complicated enough to warrant one. Content creators (air makers?) need to sustain themselves with the revenue their work grants them. People who circumvent this like you, add to the running cost of YouTube but contribute nothing in return. I personally despise advertisement of all forms, so I understand your motivation to do so. I would even encourage it if you have no other means. But, to justify it in the way you do seems intellectually and/or morally dishonest.

okamiueru,

There are definitely better front-end alternatives to YouTube. But… they contribute nothing to the people who make the content that you want to use those front-ends for. I pay for YouTube premium, but I still sometimes use other methods for consuming it. So, take this for what it’s worth: by all means, use the free alternatives, etc. But the whole “don’t pay for it if it is free” is shortsighted.

okamiueru,

What is the main motivation for that though? Being able to play the games a couple of days earlier?

okamiueru,

I think the most important “trick” was to loop back the refiner a couple of times. The refiner can both remove and add details, or reinforce a particular art style. By piping the latent model output into another ksampler, and repeat this 2-3 times would (for some prompts) consistently greatly improve images.

I don’t know how detailed people have prompts, but these one is about 20 or so descriptive and weighted. It is very consistent in the quality and visual aesthetic, yet creative in the creature design. I’m absolutely amazed by SDXL.

Example of repeated iterations with the refiner: https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/3dca758a-db90-4244-9981-13356c275ae7.png

okamiueru,

Indeed. I usually mix down multiple iterations manually and pick the features I like.

okamiueru,

If I’m reading it correctly, and please help me out if not: recorded data by the nature of being stored somewhere, should be made public?

That doesn’t make all that much sense. Data retention and access levels should always be tied to a use case that require it. And, there is no “if anything is stored, it should all be public”

okamiueru,

Ah, gotcha. I don’t think anyone was saying that the solution was to try to make the problem less visible.

okamiueru,

I’ve been running SD on AMD GPU and Linux since more or less the beginning. It’s been smooth sailing all the way. Not nearly as fast as some equally expensive RTX cards. But, it is what is is.

okamiueru, (edited )

Indeed. I’m in complete awe by this technology. It’s an amazing pass-time that tickles the creative side. As for getting an idea of how different cards and system compare, you can check out vladmandic.github.io/…/benchmark.html

I also have an 6800 XT, and the performance on that particular benchmark is around 9 it/s. Something like this looks to be a rough indication.

AMD Cards:

<pre style="background-color:#ffffff;">
<span style="color:#323232;">- 20 it/s:  7900 XTX
</span><span style="color:#323232;">- 10 it/s 6900 XT
</span><span style="color:#323232;">- 9 it/s 6800 XT
</span><span style="color:#323232;">- 7 it/s 6700 XT
</span><span style="color:#323232;">- 2 it/s RX Vega
</span>

NVIDIA Cards:

<pre style="background-color:#ffffff;">
<span style="color:#323232;">- 50 it/s RTX 4090
</span><span style="color:#323232;">- 25 it/s RTX 4080
</span><span style="color:#323232;">- 22 it/s RTX 3080 Ti
</span><span style="color:#323232;">- 11 it/s RTX 4060 Ti
</span>
okamiueru,

I think those numbers are roughly the same I get. It varies a bit from time to time. I also wouldn’t know how to improve it, to be honest.

okamiueru,

Those are some great notes, thanks for sharing.
