overby,

The layout needs to fit your daily use. So if you program a lot in C/Python/PowerShell … then you need easy access to special chars. If you just write a lot, then you could get away with a simpler setup.

I have a somwhat simple setup - I code a bit but not that much - my 3x5 3-thumb keymap

overby,

You can do that now - in compact mode a least

overby,

It depends on what you need. A split keyboard is probably what comes close to the MS ergo. Somethink like a Moonlander https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/ or the Iris https://keeb.io/products/iris-keyboard-split-ergonomic-keyboard

But take a look at https://jhelvy.shinyapps.io/splitkbcompare/ - there you can compare and print layout of different spli keyboards and test before you buy.

Shorts always ride up on one leg.

It’s hot again, which means it’s chafing season. One thing I’ve noticed is that my running shorts always ride up on my left leg, and only my left leg. Multiple pairs, different brands and styles, it doesn’t matter. I get much worse chaffing on that leg. I use Body Glide or Squirrel’s Nut Butter religiously and can...

Get some short running tights. Some like to wear them under shorts. I just wear the tights - this is my favorite https://fusionworld.com/products/c3-multisport-tights

overby,

I have tried running in shorts but they always ride up my legs. I’m using running tights now - much better.

Nice looking keyboard. How do you like the MT3 keycaps?

OC IBM 4979 restoration

This is my IBM 4979 terminal. It's part of the IBM Series/1 minicomputer ecosystem which launched in 1976 although my terminal was made 1979 or 1980. It features a 66 key IBM beamspring that was unfortunately suffering from the usual material degradation. The CRT was also non-functional with an apparent HV issue....

overby,

Nice work - a cool looking machine you got there :-)

Hi, quick question. I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we usually use letters like ČĆŽŠĐ :) I wonder whether anyone knows about the mechanical keyboard supporting my alphabet: South Slavic Latin.

And yeah, it should be something you would recommend. Thanks a lot!

overby,

If the keyboard supports qmk you can program it to support any language. I’m danish myself and need æøå - I have them on a seperate layer on my keyboards (i use 40% keyboards)

overby,

Planck was one of the first keyboards I got - this is such a great board. Think I got 4 of them now :-)

Hi, there is a community just for Ergo Mech over at lemmy.world - ErgoMechKeyboards

How has ur lemmy experience been so far?

Im joining in on the reddit ditching thing, and was kinda worried at first that i wouldnt be able to like use it the way i did reddit as it feels like a whole new place, but after engaging with posts and people and actually being a part of lemmy rather than being lurk mode all the time i was pleasantly surprised with how easy it...

overby,

I sarted with Planck keyboards and migrated to split - 42 key Corne for now, but my next project is gonna be a 36/34 key Corne or similar.
